With all the ominous news about President Trump lately, I’ve been considering whether to vote Democrat.  But who to choose? 
Beto O’Rourke supports the Menstrual Equity Act to guarantee women everywhere have access to feminine products during their “time of the month.” And he’s outspokenly in favor of banning certain guns, the Second Amendment be damned. Bold positions, those.
Marianne Williamson, who warned of Trump’s dark psychic forces, assures voters she’s not a kook.  Every politician should have learned the lesson from Richard Nixon – that never works, it only confirms what we all suspected. 
Kamala Harris seems nice.  She was a prosecutor who may have refused to let an innocent man off death row.  And she started her climb up the ladder of success the old fashioned way – on her back.  Plus, she’s Negro so she has the moral authority to address the shameful legacy of slavery.  Well, nearly.  She’s certainly as much a descendant of African slaves as Elizabeth Warren is a descendant of Native American Indians. 
Hillary Clinton says Tulsi Gabbard and Jill Stein are Russian moles, planted in the primaries to help Trump win.  Hillary’s an expert on Russian collusion, she would know.  Plainly, I can’t vote for either of them.
I dunno, it’s almost as if all the people calling Trump’s pot black have black kettles of their own.  Maybe stick with the devil I know?

Assault rifles are a statistical blip, gun crimes in Chicago are not causally related to the availability of guns in Indiana, the Second Amendment was not written specifically to defend slave owners, gun control has no effect on criminals or crime, and good guys with guns are disproportionally effective against both street crime and mass shootings.

Democrat messaging seems to have entirely morphed into saying whatever Progs want the gullible, ill-informed and emotion-driven to believe, without regard to truth, much less punctilious accuracy.

Former Crystal Mayor ReNae Bowman took one of the dumbest swipes I’ve ever seen at Andy Richter, founder of “Community Solutions” and one of the driving forces behind Crystal’s libertarian/conservative insurgency – an insurgency that’s undone a lot of ex-mayor Bowman’s toxic legacy.

But never let it be said the woman doesn’t ooze class.

Emphasis on “ooze”:

Bowman’s lunacy, and borderline slander, gets worse – including a swipe at Richter’s wife that’s straight out of some trailer park reality show.

I’m going to presume Bowman is angry with Andy for two reasons: he clobbered her in a city that was supposed to be a DFL sinecure, and Andy helped lead the way doing the most unforgivable sin in the “prog” religion; peeled back “progressive” power.

Richter’s response was as classy as Bowman’s was toxically “progressive”:

The truth is Ms. Bowman you don’t scare me. You’re nothing more than a classless coward. While I go out and work hard with my blog and my podcast and on campaigns, you sit around on social media and spread 24/7 hate. it’s a pathetic existence. If you’d like to be as successful as my group I have a suggestion; why don’t you come up with a positive agenda and persuade people to support it?
I know I’ve helped defeat you and all your friends in Crystal and that has to be eating at you. I can understand that. Losing that much has to drive someone crazy. She probably dreams about defeating our group in just one election. And why not? Dreams are important. I won’t knock them.

And since Bowman still harbors political ambitions, I’m gonna post this for my friends in Crystal:

Having said all this, I will support Ms. Bowman’s right to free speech. If I try and shut her up then I’m no better than she is. Her first amendment rights will be supported by this group even it attacks me and my family. What I will not do, under any circumstances, is stop exposing her vulgar and despicable words. I have more than a hunch that all roads in the Deep State lead to some Democrat twerp or another.

The Dems’ impeachment mania is a sign, not of Dem strength, and certainly not necessarily of offenses warranting nullifying an election (and maybe two), but rather a sign of desperation and weakness.

Victor Davis Hanson:

Aside from the emotional issue that Democrats, NeverTrumpers, and celebrities loathe Donald Trump, recently Representative Al Green (D-Texas) reminded us why the Democrats are trying to impeach the president rather than just defeat him in the 2020 general election.
“To defeat him at the polls would do history a disservice, would do our nation a disservice,” Green said.  “I’m concerned that if we don’t impeach the president, he will get re-elected.”
Translated, that means Green accepts either that Trump’s record is too formidable or that the agendas of his own party’s presidential candidates are too frightening for the American people to elect one of them. And that possibility is simply not permissible. Thus, impeachment is the only mechanism left to abort an eight-year Trump presidency—on a purely partisan vote to preclude an election, and thus contrary to the outlines of impeachment as set out by the Constitution.

It’d explain a lot of the Democrat tactics; declining to hold hearings, relying on “evidence” gleaned from the results of their changes to the law permitting pure hearsay, and fighting the battle almost exclusively in media aimed at their three most important opinion constituencies; Entitled Americans, Dim Americans and Outrage-Addicted Americans.

Hanson has a lot of analysis – read it. Pullquote:

My hunch: Dem polling is showing that even the more “moderate” Democrats terrify Main Street, and there are no other options coming out of the woodwork, and their base will having nothing but a Trump inquisition, so this is the best way forward they have.

It’s not about evidence. It’s about having “Disgraced and Impeached” as a chanting point for 2020.

Ilhan Omar’s soon to be ex husband’s days of being part of the lifetime sinecure the DFL gives its “elite” are apparently at an end. His job as a bag man…er, community liaison for Alondra Cano apparently got terminated over the summer.

David Steinberg – who hasn’t quite shamed the Strib or MPR to cover the story yet – writes:

My sources stated that Ahmed Hirsi was terminated following a request by Rep. Omar. They added that Omar’s motivation for the request was to force Hirsi to become reliant upon her assets and income.
For the majority of 2019, Ahmed Hirsi has reportedly borne the responsibility of raising the three children he has with Omar. (One source used the term “abandoned” to describe Ilhan’s recent share of the parenting.) Since June 14, Hirsi does not appear to have a reliable source of income.
Meanwhile, Rep. Omar currently draws a $174,000 Congressional salary, and reportedly received a $250,000 book advance in January.

Joe Biden says the Constitution doesn’t guarantee the right of Every American to own a gun.  He is correct.  I agree with him.  There you go: we have bi-partisan agreement that the Second Amendment does not guarantee every person the right to own a firearm.
Of course we agree – as far as it goes.  Conservatives think only sane law-abiding adults should own guns.  Liberals think only government agents should own guns. So we agree in principle that there are limitations.  But as always, the devil is in the details.  And that’s where Democrats continue to do their endless lying.
If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor.  True, if he agrees to work for a nickel a day.  Oh, he won’t?  Well, then I guess you’ll have to switch doctors.  But that’s your doctor’s choice, we didn’t mandate the change, so it’s not our fault that you couldn’t keep your doctor.
A person who beats and abuses his wife shouldn’t own a gun.  Well – “beats,” sure, physical violence, we agrfee.  “Abuses,” what does that mean?  “He cut up my credit cards because I spent us into bankruptcy, which left me unable to self-medicate my mental illness with shopping therapy, which made me feel bad, which is mental abuse.”  So that person isn’t allowed to own?  Which one, the abuser or the nutcase.
Democrats desire to be Procrustes, forcing equal outcomes for everyone, but they know the public doesn’t want to fit the bed.  So Democrats resort to endless, endless lies.  Just tiresome.

This isn’t news to anyone that’s been following the gun “debate” for the past couple decades.

Getting the entire rest of the population to figure it out is the hard part.

When Ilhan Omar starts attacking the Strib – which has been rhetorically painting her toenails ever since the beginning of her state-managed-to-a-fault career – you might be forgiven for wondering if the wheels aren’t starting to fall apart over at Team Ilhan.

Scott sums up where the Omar story was as of earlier in the week.

The scandal has pushed the incredible panoply of scandals we have covered in depth on Power Line into the background: the identity fraud, the marriage fraud, the immigration fraud, the tax fraud.
In the past three weeks I have circled back to interview sources whom I have found to be highly reliable in the Omar saga. They open a window onto the scandals from the perspective of Ahmed Hirsi, her long-time partner and the father of her three children. According to sources, Hirsi is telling friends:
• that he will not go to jail for Omar;
• that while Omar did indeed marry her brother (Ahmed Elmi) for fraudulent purposes, Hirsi did not know at the time that she had married Elmi;
• that Omar is threatening Hirsi he would be in trouble along with her if the truth were to come out;
• that Omar has asked him to state publicly that all is well with their marriage even though it is completely done and finished; and
• that in fact they are living apart and have been divorced under Islamic law (although they remain legally married).
Having humiliated Ahmed Hirsi by her affair with Tim Mynett, Omar now wants Hirsi to perform public relations services for her to suppress the scandal. That is cold.

While hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, a husband tossed under the bus for a newer model can do a lot more than write country-western songs. I’m kinda rooting for Hirsi.

And without Power Line and Scott Johnson, the story – her alleged fake marriages, immigration and identity fraud, her tax problems, to say nothing of the philandering – would have stayed safely buried.

Not to cast aspersions, since the only “evidence” I have is an uncanny coincidence.

But it seems almost uncanny, the way mouth-breathing “threats” “against” Rep. Ilhan Omar tend to pop up into the news when disorderly elements of the media start poking where they aren’t supposed to poke, into news of Rep. Omar’s marriage, philandering, campaign finance issues and tax problems.

Last week, as bits and pieces of the local DFL PR firm we call our “media” started to get shamed into, y’know, covering the news, and the depravity of DFL rank and file started edging into i headlines, , that this “death threat” suddenly ate up a news cycle or two:

Now, we don’t know who wrote this, and it’s for certain we’ll never find out due to local media’s efforts (although I’d like to know where William Davis was last week).

But of course, this takes us back to February, 2018 – on the hard-fought caucus night where Omar and the West Bank “progressive” machine needed to gin up turnout to beat out some strong “moderate” DFLers, this was “slipped under the doors” of some Cedar Riverside apartments by “Trump Supporters” who, notwithstanding the cameras and scads of Somali witnesses all over the place, seemed to disappear, zephyr-like, without a trace all night long:

The local party “community organizer” promised an investigation, which went as far and as fast as all ward heelers’ “investigations” always do.

So have at it, hive mind. Similarities? “Tells?”

Channel 9, being as it is the worst water-carrier for the DFL among the four major TV stations in the market, bends over backwards to find false equivalence in the goings-on at the State Fair, during which a female GOP volunteer was sexually assaulted, goons threatened female staffers, and more mundane assaults were a daily matter:

“Every day at our booth, (things happen),” [GOP chair Jennifer] Carnahan said. “People will spit on our volunteers in their faces, people will take beer and dump it over our merchandise. I had a woman take garbage and throw it in my face last Wednesday and tell me I was trash.”

While at the DFL booth…er…(I’m adding emphasis):

[DFL chair Ken] Martin said Democrats decided to install surveillance cameras inside their booth for 2019 because of incidents in previous years

Presumably every bit as legitimate as Ilhan Omar’s “death threat”.

Ken Martin adds a plaintive plea:

“This fair is supposed to represent the best of Minnesota, not the worst,” Ken Martin, chairman of the Minnesota DFL, said in an interview outside his booth. “We just have to find a way to de-escalate this. It’s sad that this is where our politics have gotten to.”

It’s simple, Ken. Tell your supporters to stop behaving like such a bunch of f***ing animals about politics.

They finally have a “person of interest” in last week’s sexual assault of a MNGOP booth volunteer:

As reported earlier this week, the victim, an unidentified woman, reported being groped by another woman after a “verbal disagreement regarding political affiliation.”
A State Fair police spokesperson at the time confirmed they’d received a report of a volunteer being groped “over the clothes.”
The perpetrator is described as a white woman in her 30s, brunette and 5 feet 4 inches tall. 
Anyone with information about the woman pictured should call the Minnesota State Fair Police Department at 651-288-4500.

Let’s see: homely, visibly clenched with rage and deeply unfulfilled in life, with visible evidence of transferring all the energy people used to put into family, faith, community and career into political ire, doubtless alone in life and monomaniacally focused on her hatred for everyone that’s different from her?

In this town, that doesn’t narrow down the suspect pool all that much.

Apparently he took that whole “We’ll make the ocean level recede” thing pretty seriously.

Around November 1 of every year, ever since I’ve lived in my house in the early ’90s, the guy who somehow inherited the job of “block captain” on our block drops an envelope in everyone’s door with a flyer asking for $20 to cover snow plowing.

It’s the biggest bargain – one of the few bargains left – in Saint Paul; he gives it to a plow driver. The driver lives on the block – so he literally needs to plow our driveway to get to work anyway.

So anytime there’s more than a dusting of snow, our alley is plowed to a fine sheen. And since side streets in my neighborhood are only plowed by the sun in April, the fact that our guy blasts out the street on the east side of the block to get to Minnehaha (a city snow emergency route) is almost literally a lifesaver.

Of course, it’s something that works – which, in a one-party kleptocracy like Saint Paul, means someone’s gotta try to appropriate it.

The same Merriam Park harpies that jammed down the smoking ban (years before the rest of the state) and, most recently, Tony-Soprano-style trash hauling, have been nattering away about socializing alley plowing for the past fifteen years.

It’s flying about as well as…well, the trash system:

Consultants from the University of Minnesota found little public appetite for the level of services the city likely would be able to offer.
Most residents who contract private alley plowers said they were unwilling to pay more than $15 per season for the city to complete the same service, and they expressed concern that the city might actually provide less snow removal and only plow after snow emergencies.
“Respondents will expect the city to plow the alleys after each snowfall or after a 2-inch snowfall, alleys to be plowed at the same time as main streets or at the same time as residential streets,” states a study summary. “Residents will be willing to pay an amount that would not be more than the amount they are currently paying, or less than $15 per season.”

Of course, the fact that real people who live in Saint Paul don’t want it is no defense; the little pack of “woke” Merriam Park biddies who burned countless hours of their worthless labor banning smoking in bars they never went to, and jamming down a trash collection system nobody wants – have sent their little hive minds on it.

For St. Paul to remove alley snow, consultants estimated $3.1 million in one-time start-up costs, such as new plow trucks, and $4.8 million in ongoing annual costs for labor, maintenance, training and recruitment.
That’s a total cost of $7.9 million in year one alone — or more than $100 for each of the city’s 74,000 households. Adding in business storefronts would reduce the cost.

Except to the businesses. Those few that are left, anyway. And that cost will be passed on to consumers – again, the few that are left.

But it’ll happen. Mark my words.

She’s got a sinecure seat in a district no less one-party than East Berlin in 1974. She’s politically bulletproof; she could shoot down an Israeli airliner and get 75% of the vote. Chicago ward heelers wish they were as set up as she is.

She’s got a local media that paints her toenails for her. 

She’s looking forward to a lifetime of wealth, on the public, media and non-profit dime at the very least, for her and her family. 

Someone treat me that “badly”, stat.

Joe Biden, reacting to Israel’s decision to deny entry to people who advocate its destruction, said:
“I have always been a stalwart supporter of Israel—a vital partner that shares our democratic values. No democracy should deny entry to visitors based on the content of their ideas—even ideas they strongly object to. And no leader of the free world should encourage them to do so.”
But Joe, if you support Israel’s right to exist as an independent nation, then you concede it has the right to manage its own internal affairs, including deciding who to admit and who to deny.  Otherwise, if Israel lacks that power, then it’s not an independent nation, it’s a colony and you’re playing the role of emperor, telling the locals what they can and cannot do.  Which is precisely what you accuse President Trump of doing. 
So why should I vote for you, and not for him?

He later referred to “Fredo” as the Italian equivalent of the N-Bomb.

Well, today, anyway:

“Fredo” comes from The Godfather. The movie came out in 1972. While Italian-Americans experienced all kinds of discrimination in their day, “their day” was between the 1840s and 1940s, when Italian immigration was driving all sorts of transformations in American life.

By 1972, Italians were pretty well established.

Anyway, Chris Cuomo isn’t “Fredo” – incompetent, probably mentally defective. That’s not very accurate.
