Cold Flint/s

Up until 2020, DFLers could respond to conservative concerns about the state of the Twin Cities with “Hey, at least they’re growing”.

And yes, both Minneapolis and Saint Paul grew, after a fashion, between 2000 and 2020.

But all that has come to a screeching halt, and reversed:

Unstated: most of the people hitting the doors are the productive, taxpaying ripe suck class. Whatever growth is happening is among the class that consumes government revenue – in particular, the non-profit industrial complex and its clients.

Former Crystal city councilman and slap target emeritus Jeff Kolb responds, as usual, economically and precisely:

The Met Council has been running a demographic ponzi scheme, trying to plump up the numbers of the productive class to justify spending, taxing and playing infrastructure games like the cities are healthy and growing.

Like Detroit, I suspect Minneapolis and Saint Paul are about to find out what happens when the productive class hits the exits.

  1. Oddly enough, I can see in my crystal ball that despite declining population voter rolls will grow or remain the same during the next election cycle. So, remember to Vote Harder™!

  2. Meanwhile, Minneapolis Pubic Schools have seen dropping enrollments throughout the system. I didn’t read beyond the first paragraph or two, but I’m sure they think more money will fix that.

Or maybe they might stop promoting the killing of their future “customers”, or sterilizing their current ones. Heh. I crack myself up.

  3. They call it a death spiral for a reason.
Once you reach a certain point in the spiral, no one who get elected to city wide office is doing it as a stage in a political career, but because they want the graft. Paraphrasing Adam Smith, there is a great deal of ruin in a city, Detroit’s FY ’23 budget is 1.2 BILLION $.

  4. Good ones, NW.

(shrug) the Curly Effect is predicated on chasing out the productive class.

  5. jpa.
Agreed. As long as there are still cemeteries with Hennco and Ramco, there won’t be a drop off of DemoCommie voters.

On a somewhat related note, AT&T is bailing out of their named tower downtown and relocating about 100 employees to their Bloomington facility, by August.

  6. Unstated: The only thing keeping Weimerican shit hole cities like SP and Mpls from logging epic population losses is the huge influx of uneducated, unskilled, 75IQ refugees pouring in from 3rd world shit holes.

The degradation of the work force is already starting to take it’s toll. Case in point; Melvin Carter’s staff getting maced tfo of a restaurant and the complete collapse of road maintenance.

If I lived in the Twin cities (lol), I’d start adding regular Alhambra water deliveries into my budget. Jackson MS and Flint MI (and Cape Town South Africa) are not outliers; they are your future.

  7. Vlad, in other words, [w]hen things start to break, don’t expect solutions for them. All you’ll see going forward is a blame game played by people who are in over their heads at jobs they never should’ve had.

  8. Jackson, MS has had issues for the whole time that lying, rat bastard Bennie Thompson has been conducting witch hunts on January 6.

  9. That’s exactly right, jdm. Act as if you’re on your own, because you are. You’re just paying through the nose as if someone else was handling it.

  10. 2016 Dems: “Electing Trump makes us look like a banana republic! 🍌🍌”
    2023 Dems: “Hold our beer! 🍻 “

    @justinamash
After reading DA Bragg’s indictment of Trump and accompanying statement of facts, I’m stunned any prosecutor would move forward with this. It’s even flimsier than we were led to believe. Thirty-four stacked counts, bootstrapped to an unstated crime, to manufacture felony charges.

  12. The details of the indictment are even more hilarious. The actual crime Trump committed is unmentioned (because he was never accused or found guilty of it), but Bragg then bases his indictment on this “crime” as though Trump had been tried for it, found guilty of it, and was in jail serving time for it.
    This is hilarious!
OMG the ability of Trump to turn Dems into drooling idiots is so much fun to watch it is almost worth electing him again.
Soros may be reconsidering his commitment to DEI after Bragg laid this turd on the American people. It is so bad it throws into any of the other ongoing Trump investigations into disrespect. Massive F up by the Dems and #nevertrumpers! They lose either way, if the case is dismissed, Trump wins, and if he is convicted by a Brooklyn jury drawn from the citizens who elected Bragg, Trump wins. Best of all? If it goes to trial, that won’t happen until next year, when Trump likely will be the GOP nominee 🤣🤣🤣.

  13. BTW, I have never passed the Bar or been awarded a JD though I, personally, myself, have occasionally found myself in court.

  14. Trump’s next court appearance for this joke of a prosecution is scheduled for next December.
It is my fondest wish that the #TDS addled Dems could, for one second, see themselves as they really are. It would be best for them if, during that second, they had no sharp objects or poisons within reach.

  15. It’s pretty telling when left leaning and other Trump hating lawyas are making fun of fat boy, Soros puppet Bragg’s actions here. Now that it’s looking like he’s committed a felony under New York law himself by leaking information on the indictment to the media, he really looks incompetent.
