The backpedaling has begun. Politicians throughout the U.S. are winding it all down and hoping (against hope) that the blowback won’t be anything approaching what is happening in Ottawa.

Mind you, it’s been peaceful thus far, despite the increasingly manic sputterings of Justin Trudeau, who didn’t think much of those who would suggest a course correction:

“Individuals are trying to blockade our economy, our democracy and our fellow citizens’ daily lives, it has to stop,” Trudeau said in a speech to Canada’s parliament on Monday evening. “People of Ottawa don’t deserve to be harassed in their own neighborhoods. They don’t deserve to be confronted with the inherent violence of a swastika flying on a street corner or Confederate flag.”

Are there actually swastikas flying in the streets of Ottawa? Here’s a recent photo:

Looks like a maple leaf to me, but one never knows.

Trudeau, like many other politicians, senses a reckoning is nigh. And perhaps there will be violence. But don’t count on it coming from the maple-flavored C.W. McCalls currently deployed in the streets of Ottawa.

  1. trollbots are in hyperactive cut and paste mode today. Means last ditch effort to get the narrative out as it is falling apart. And when there is nothing there there, you lie and lie and lie…

Bernie Farber, who is listed as the Chair of CAHN on the group’s website, tweeted on Sunday, stating, “Taken by a friend in Ottawa at the Occupation. Apparently in plain sight,” captioning a picture of an antisemitic flier.

The picture of the flier, however, was not from the Ottawa trucker protests against vaccine passports, vaccine mandates and Wuhan coronavirus restrictions – it was from an unrelated event in Miami, Florida, and first posted on Twitter on January 23rd. Farber defended the post before ultimately deleting his claims.

    Sounds familiar? Heh heh…

  2. ^ Lets back up a moment— the protest began nominally as about truckers and a warning that vaccine-mandates on cross-border trucking (imposed by each country, each way) would further hurt the supply chain.

It has evolved, and now working truckers and the supply chain itself are the de facto hostages.
When their forecast did not come to be, they had to manufacture their own supply chain crisis.

    LMAO…you ignorant asshole.

The truckers are the lynch pins of the supply chain itself. You can make all the widgets you want, if the truckers refuse to haul it, you don’t sell any widgets.

“Working truckers” are, by definition, “working”..it’s right there in the phrase. No one’s holding them hostage.

I love it when you lift your hairpiece and let the wind blow through your empty skull like this.

^ The economic damage of this “protest” has surely cost more jobs and worker time lost than mask and vaccine mandates ever could.”
Talk to restaurant owners about this. Or consider the huge cost we paid in setting back children’s schooling and socialization for two years.
    Your statement is ridiculous.

  5. Covid vaccine works to prevent the spread of Covid. If you are properly vaccinated and booster, you can never get Covid and never give it.

There are no side effects to the vaccine. There are no religious or moral grounds to object to the vaccine. It’s free. There are no legitimate grounds to object to the vaccine.

It makes no difference whether the entity doing the requiring is the government itself, or a private entity doing the government’s bidding; everyone must submit.

People who refuse to submit are capable of infecting others and thereby overwhelming hospitals which endangers lives. Non-vaccinated persons deserve to be forcibly excluded from society, for the safety of others.

    ***

One must believe all of these things are true to assert that mandatory Covid vaccines are just and proper. If any of these things is not true, the logical basis for mandatory vaccines falls apart. After that, there is only blind unreasoning hatred of the lower classes and power for power’s sake.

To be anti- government in Canada is somewhat laughable . But that is starting to change with a loud minority of anti-vaccine, anti-gov’t types pretending to be like their less hinged neighbours to the south, except with universal health care, low crime rates and jobs they were able to take time away from to spend weeks in Ottawa occupying the city and getting their 15 minutes of fame pretending, again, that they are somehow an important voice for the “people”. They are not. The vast majoring of citizens condemn their actions and wish the police would send them packing.

(Irony: these alt-right types are the first to demand the dismantling of barricades when indigenous Canadians block roads for land claims issues).

  7. I know a guy who is a commercial painter. Not a contractor, not a business owner, a guy who pushes a paint brush.
All throughout the pandemic, he was driving around the midwest and west, from Butte to Green Bay, with a three or four other guys based out of Minnesota. He could do this because he was officially classed as an “essential worker” by the Minnesota Dept. Health.
    He was painting Walmart interiors.
That is why this is a joke. All the keyboard warrior “elites” were working remote, were able to live their low risk lives because other people were driving trucks, delivering packages, keeping the lights on and the fuel stations full of gas, stocking shelves, looking after grandma in the care home, at much higher risk of covid than the telecommuting elite.
And now those same elites want to tell them the conditions under which they will be allowed to work?
What is the covid way of saying “sod off swampy”?

  8. ^ MP (and JD too for his astute comment), you make an awful lot of dots to connect and logical conclusions to draw… better just to arrest all the joos… er, the unvaxxed and put them in jail or camps or out of their misery.

  9. The joke, illustrated:
    https://mn.gov/covid19/data/response-prep/response-capacity.jsp
After two years of telling people that we had to avoid the apocalyptic horror of the ICU’s overflowing, coughing, dying covid patients dying on gurneys in hospital hallways, do you know how many more beds the the state of MN has built and staffed up since June of 2020?
-5. On June 1st, 2020, MN had 1062 ICU beds available. On Feb. 5 this year, the number was 1057.
Like I said it’s an f’n joke. The state of MN was quick to destroy businesses and restrict constitutional rights to deal with this horrible pandemic, but the people who run the medical systems, including the MDH, never believed a word of it themselves.

  10. MP is absolutely right, it is ALL about the politics and not the truth and facts. This just about describes everything you ever wanted to know about the narrative and science™:

The doctor who helped discover the Omicron COVID-19 variant claimed that she was pressured by several government officials not to reveal that it was a milder strain. Speaking to Germany’s Welt newspaper, Dr. Angelique Coetzee, who is currently the head of the South African Medical Association, said that during discussions with European officials, she was told not to say that Omicron patients presented milder symptoms than prior COVID-19 variants. “I was told not to publicly state that it was a mild illness. I have been asked to refrain from making such statements and to say that it is a serious illness. I declined,”
