So the US got tossed out of Afghanistan, so what? How does our retreat-in-disgrace affect the rest of the world?

Maybe not so good. If the US isn’t willing or able to exercise competent military actions, the nations which have been relying on us for defense, begin to look vulnerable. They might need to arm themselves to defend themselves, or risk be conquered by rivals.

Domino theory is back and I’m wondering how many weapons and how much ammunition will be required to survive the fall of the final domino.

    Well, Parliament gave the U.S. the first smack down last week when they announced that as long as Pedo Joe and his Keystone Kops administration are in power, they will do nothing with us. Pretty sad when the country that has been willing to back our plays, even when we might have been wrong, tells us to pound sand.

    On another serious note, Saudi Arabia and Russia negotiated a deal to end the use of the Petrol Dollar and allow them to use their respective currencies for transactions.

    Not just Japan; South Korea, Taiwan, The Philippines, and even Australia should all be rethinking their alliances and defense systems since the US has made it clear they won’t be there for anything but political posturing. If the Democrats hold the House and Senate(by the usual means) through the midterms expect the Biden-Harris administration to announce that the Seventh Fleet will be leaving its Japanese digs for San Diego as a military cost cutting measure.

    One of the aspects of the Reagan administration that has rankled the Left was the assertion by our military leaders(back when men were leading the military) that we could fight 2 wars on 2 different fronts at the same time. We could do this because our economy had the extra capacity necessary to do so. One of the goals of the Obama-Jarrett-Rice cabal was, through massive multi-trillion dollar expenditures, to strip our economy of that excess capacity and hobble if not completely neuter our military.

We all know that nothing will happen, but it’s clear that the media is realizing that they can no longer cover for these butt wipers.

    I doubt it. Someone, a fixer, will explain to the editors at WaPo and NYT what comes from sowing doubt about Biden admin. Could be a guy with a sharkskin suit from the FBI coming by for a office visit. Or it could be a visit to the editors’ residences from Antifa with a bucket of blood and a pigs head. The point will be made.

    Years ago, there was a discussion about Japan’s nuclear position. They are likely maintaining the nuclear-free status only because the parts are on different sides of the same room.

    China, and to a lesser extent, Russia, have been the big winners here. China will receive a big cash windfall from the mineral wealth of Afghanistan. Let’s not even mention the fact that they have also bought up Argentina’s lithium mines. All of those electric cars that the DemoCommies are mandating, are going to be another thing that ChiComs will have control of.

    The Taliban have a lot of incentives to protect and help Americans and American allies still in the country and in general get along well with the US: Avoidance of military attack and loosening of financial restrictions to name just two.

    All the Taliban has to do is put on a good face for the international community. During their initial occupation of Kabul and subsequent press conferences and television interviews, it seems they’ve learned a thing or two about optics since 2001. But at their core, they have not changed. People desperately clung to aircraft on takeoff to escape this “new-and-improved” Taliban. Terrorism perpetrated against American citizens or Afghan SIVs in Afghanistan? They’ll likely blame it on ISIS-K. Bonus: they can get the infidels to conduct drone strikes against their enemies.

    As to loosening financial restrictions? What do you suppose the Taliban can get for selling U.S. military equipment, even disabled, to the Chinese or Russians?

    It’s amazing to watch in real time the fabrication of an Americans-left-behind stab-in-the-back myth. They were told to leave in April. What were we supposed to do with people who wanted to stay? Make them leave at gunpoint?
