Rebooted Morality!

Remember when questioning the provenance of immigrant voters was a baaaad thing?

Either does Alondra “The Brain” Cano, the “third world feminist” and Minneapolis City Council ward heeler:

Minneapolis City Council candidate Mohamed Farah is accusing Council Member Alondra Cano of “Jim Crow tactics” after she questioned the credentials of many of the Somali-American delegates chosen in the Ninth Ward caucus earlier this month.

Cano’s campaign filed challenges with the Minneapolis DFL saying 101 delegates elected in the near south Minneapolis caucus did not sign in to participate in the April 4 event at South High School. At least 27 delegates and alternates did not write down their addresses when they registered, Cano’s campaign said, and “we have identified at least three delegates who do not live in the precinct they were elected in.”

I love watching tyrants eating each other.

  1. Actually, those “errors” are pretty common at caucus– people not fully registering, or being in the wrong precinct. It’s common even among supposedly educated legal Americans. Now, whether the “typical” Somali immigrant is legally entitled to vote (and participate in caucus) or not– something the DFL is usually never concerned about– I do not know.

Apparently not paying attention to the election laws has come back to bite them in the donkey. Delightful.

  2. And after reviewing the complaints (thank you for the cite) it becomes obvious that Will Rogers was right when he said, “I don’t belong to any organized political party, I’m a Democrat.” Even the worst GOP caucuses aren’t run that badly, in my experience.

Nor mine. The Democrat caucuses last year in Iowa gave me a new context for the phrase “herding cats”. The news footage from one of the Democrat caucuses in Des Moines showed a bunch of people standing around in a high school gym. They were supposed to stand in groups to be counted– “You people for Sanders stand over there, those of you for Clinton there”, etc. Add in O’Malley and Webb, and the fact that they couldn’t get enough delegates, and the horse-trading as the Sanders and Clinton camps tried to woo them into joining their group, the subsequent recounts, and you’ve got the recipe for a long night on a weeknight. People who felt they’d fulfilled their civic duty were leaving (pesky home lives and jobs to go to in the morning!), which messed up the delegate counts and any confidence in the numbers. To make matters worse, the DNC apparently didn’t feel the detail of making sure all of the precincts were staffed was an important one!

Contrast with the GOP caucuses in Iowa: People make their pitches for the candidates, people fill out the paper ballots, and then leave if they need to. Both parties allocate 2 hours for the caucuses. In the news footage of the GOP caucus I saw (also in Des Moines), most of the attendees were gone in about 90 minutes.

  4. A cynic might suggest there’s a reason Democrat voter recordkeeping is . . . flexible. Makes it easier to find more votes in the trunk of the car, if we suddenly need them during a recount.

The real reason Hillary lost is the Democrat party didn’t have enough fake ballots run off in advance. They didn’t think they’d need so many.

  5. Wonder how long it’ll be until DG actually notices her comments are going in the junk file?

DG – I’ve told you several times now: Read this. I’m done asking nicely.

  6. I don’t think she’ll ever realize it, Mitch.

One would think that since she can’t see her mumbo jumbo in print, that she would get a clue.

  7. Phylis Kahn was the first to go all “Voter ID” on the Dems the cycle before last; this was after one caucus meeting had to be shut down because it was becoming too violent.

I know nothing about the parliamentary procedures there, but that looked really messed up. Then throw in the eh,hem “identity issues.” Fun was had by all.

Omar is just textbook Democrat style, too. Wonderful.
