   It seems to me that if anyone ever calls out Oliver or Stewart or Colbert out for getting something wrong, they invariably fall back on the “I’m an entertainer” excuse. My rule of thumb is – why would you rely on information from someone who won’t stand behind what they told you?

   I remember Oliver’s hit piece against Senators Chamberlain and Peterson & company for being hypocrites. It was pretty much, “They’re Anti-Woman because they voted against extra-super-long-term maternity pay while on leave but then put out a Mother’s Day message saying they love their mothers and the mothers of their children and grandchildren. You can’t love your mother if you don’t support extra-super-long-term maternity pay while on leave! (harrumph)”
   I didn’t watch his show before that, but I wrote it off after that.

   I think his “Last Week Tonight” bits can be funny. But, it’s EXTREMELY instructive to try to catch the “sources” for the clips and snippets he flashes up on the screen. I think I’ve seen “Mother Jones” cited on his show more than a few times

   Notice, for example, the one clip of the guy who lowered explosives came from . . . “Al-Jazeera America?”
