Time For Those “Direct Talks”

Iran will have a nuke this year, says the IISS:

Iran will have enough enriched uranium to make a single nuclear weapon later this year, the prestigious International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) predicts.

The think tank’s Mark Fitzpatrick made the announcement at today’s launch of its annual global review of military powers.

During 2009, Iran will probably reach the point at which it has produced the amount of low-enriched uranium needed to make a nuclear bomb.

So was Biden right?  Is President HopeandChange being tested?

Why would he be tested?  Isn’t the world supposed to like us now?

  1. Maybe the Iranians will have a nuke, and maybe not. The more interesting question of course is if they have it, what kind of delivery system can they put it on. It may be the Israelis that are about to get tested.

I’m betting on Putin, or the Chinese, to be the ones to put pressure on the new administration, not the Iranians.

Even if the world ‘likes us’ now, at least more than they did a month ago, I think we can expect every president for the next decade or two to face some kind of testing. Along with the leadership of most other countries in the EU, Japan, China, India….

A lot will depend on how the Prez resolves Guantanamo, and what his position is on Gaza, and other issues.

Not being as actively hated any longer is a long way from a free pass saving us from any challenges whatsoever.

Or did you believe that McCain wouldn’t have been ‘tested’ had he won the election? Because McCain’s assertion that he had been tested, and that no one would challenge the US if he and Palin were elected was one of the most naive statements I heard during the last campaign.

  2. Not being actively hated???
That’s probably just a front… in both cases.

President Obama’s got plenty of time to do nothing with Gitmo… and that might just happen.

Didn’t McCain suggest that as a man with a record with which the US citizens were familiar. They could trust that he could manage the external testing.

Dog, no one thinks a president will not be tested… it was the concern over a guy which has not been tested at home.

The Iranians were burning pictures of Obama last week, while the Supreme Leader declared that the Great Satan now had a black face.

I can only hope that when the mullahs get the Fire of Allah, Allah does the world a favor and blows it up in the factory.

Some people may have hated the US because a Republican was president, but I think applying that to foreign nations is a load of “projection”. The ones that really hate the US have already displayed some “burning” love to the current Democrat president, IIRC.
