  1. Yes, Joni, but…

There’s a dark cloud rising from the desert floor
I packed my bags and I’m heading straight into the storm
Gonna be a twister to blow everything down
That ain’t got the faith to stand its ground

    Mister I ain’t a boy no I’m a man
And I believe in a promised land

  2. The timing of your comment is two days’ shy of impeccable.

If you don’t remember exactly why…well, check back Monday!

  3. I think I can guess. I remember a friend of mine and I staying up til midnight at the end of term in ’78 to hear the college radio station play the long-awaited new album on its release day. After all the anticipation I found it rather anti-climatic. I didn’t really like the album the first time through; there didn’t seem to be the “BTR” or “Rosalita” type anthem or a real party song. After the last cut finished my buddy asked me what I thought. I said it sounded as if Bruce had traded the city streets for the highways. I mean, how did he get from “E Street” to “a rattlesnake speedway in the Utah desert”? Didn’t stop me from buying it, of course, and it did grow on me. “Darkness” and “Adam Raised a Cain” are two of my favorite songs of his now.

Feel free to delete this comment if it interferes whatever you’re planning for Monday.

  4. Nah, it’s all good.

And I’ve found that some of my favorite albums – Tunnel of Love, Empty Glass, Born In The USA, London Calling among many others – didn’t grab me at first listen.
