Madison: Nope, Still No Liberal Media Here

Yesterday, I noted that the CEO of National Public Radio was shocked, shocked that conservatives thought her network leaned left.

And then, on “All Things Considered” as I drove home from work, I caught NPR’s piece on the Wisconsin Senate Democrat Caucus’ coup d’etat, fleeing the state to avoid losing a vote on collective bargaining.

And I was astonished – not really – to hear the audio tongue bath that ensued.   The NPR piece – from Wisconsin Public Radio’s Kristen Durst (I’ll post a link to the audio when it’s available) – positively glowed with approval, lionizing them as heroes showing “solidarity with the unions”, giving only the most technical shred of balance; it was a puff piece for the demonstrations, and nothing more.

So, National Public Radio – if you’ll suffer a question from a mere peasant – what is the surprise?

  1. Yes and our resident moonbat commie, Betty McCollum is trying to ban military advertising on race cars, but keep funding for National Commie Radio. Classic!

  2. If you thought MPR might lean a little left on some of their non-news reporting you would consider MPR’s most liberal programming swiftee-level right wing if you’ve ever listened to WPR. I catch it on occasion and it puts Air America to shame. So if NPR depends on WPR for its reporting I’m not surprised at the outcome.

  3. You mean that unconstitutional agencies of state and national government might favor unconstitutional spending by state and federal governments?

Shocker, that. Bring back the 10th Amendment and defund them.

  4. She’s surprised because she thinks that “the Left” in this country are the folks who comment & write at Alternet as well as the folks published in the Utne Reader and The Nation (publications that no doubt litter the employee rest room). A far as NPR is concerned, THOSE people are the Left in this country. That’s how NPR can consider a Hugh Hewitt a far-Right wingnut.
