The MOB Life

So Saturday night was the sixth annual Minnesota Organization of Bloggers summer party.

It was a gorgeous night, except for a little rainstorm that swept through about two hours into the party.

And even that was pretty nice.  But we’ll come back to that.

The party focused out at Keegans’ “Druid’s Glen”, their wonderful new cigar patio.

It’s hard to go wrong anywhere at Keegans, of course.

And when it did rain – a little twenty minute gullywasher that drove most of the crowd indoors for a bit – it was really one of the nicest moment of the past few weeks; the rain washed the humidity out of the air, and once the clouds passed through they were followed by a cool breeze that, after the past two weeks of stinking humidity, was worth sitting in the rain to feel.

The star attraction, of course, was “Moose” – AKA “Mini-Ben”, the three-week-old son of Mall Diva and Mr. Mall Diva from Night Writer. Mr. and Mrs. Diva met at a MOB event some years ago, got married, and last Saturday brought Moose, the MOB’s first baby and, I think it’s safe to say, the MOB’s First Baby.

Anyway – hope to see you at the Winter party, this coming February or, if I forget, March…

  1. It was a great evening and not as frenetic-feeling as last winter’s event. Always good people and good times, though.

To be accurate, Ben, Sr. is known as “The Moose” around the house, while Jr. is “Baby Moose”. Baby Moose has followed the blog lineage, though, and already has his own blog, Moosnooze. His account of his debut (along with a photo of him singing “Oh Danny Boy”) is here: http://thebabymoose.blogspot.com/2010/08/i-get-mobbed.html

  2. Bought?

    I thought I gave you $5 for it…

    Doh!

Well, I still have it if you want it back!

  3. It takes more than a potted plant to make a parking a lot a “Druids Glen”. That’s not even a “Druids Arbor”.

  4. Hi “Shot in the Dark” bloggers. I just wanted to mention that I was looking for you on Twitter (like “Minnesota Democrats Exposed” is), to tag you, in my last Tweet(s).

I just added two MN blogs (yours, and aforesaid) to the blogroll of the [increasingly-popular!! :-] weblog of the Midwest Caucus of the College Republican National Committee (CRNC).

(I just added a MO CR blogger, to the pertinent section of that blogroll, as well. However, I know that there are MANY other up-to-date and worthy weblog, in both of those categories [blogs by CRs, and blogs by others, in our Midwest Caucus states].)

I actually don’t know if I’ve been to your weblog before (before seeing it the other day, via a pertinent blogroll – perhaps at the MDE site – on Minnesota blogs). I used to spend a lot of time (then again, it was on-and-off, during many of those years, as well!) in the Blogosphere, both in the interactive community (now considered part of “Web2.0”), and with blogging myself. That has been greatly reduced more-recently, as other things have come up (!!), but I am now getting back into it (aside from the CRNC issue). I think that my latest entry at this newly-utilized blog may be picked up soon, by many; it’s already gotten kudos, from it’s subject – I hope Andrew Breitbart sees that, as well.

Anyway: Since your site was new to me, and I only had a chance for a cursory look (at the “above-the-fold” section) the other day, I didn’t know, until returning, and then scrolling down some, what political orientation this site was. I’m glad it’s a conservative blog!

I am considering coming to the MNCRs retreat next weekend; I’m glad to have interacted with your Governor, on several occasions. In my CRNC re-election race (last month), I garnered the support of MN leaders Rep. Laura Brod, Rep. Dan Severson, & Mr. Daniel J. Carlson. How does the situation look, for #mn2010, in your state?

If not this weekend, I hope to be up there again soon (my last time, was for the RNC National Convention).

  5. Aakash,

    I don’t have a dedicated SITD twitter account; I tweet under @mitchpberg.

    Thanks for stopping by!

  6. Drats. I and my Best 3/4 stopped in around 8:20PM but found interior pretty much deserted and headed home. I completely forgot to check the patio. Oh, well. Will try again in February.
