Dear Libs: Stay Classy

By Mitch Berg

It’s become a media meme in recent years; grassroots conservative activists are crude, inarticulate, ignorant and prone to outbursts of anger.

Reality shows quite the opposite, of course; from the SEIU thugs beating the guy at the Carnahan Town Hall into the hospital to the whinging infants who threw bricks and bleach during the Saint Paul Republican National Convention, the left has the genuinely checkered record.

Sad to say, today’s Franken rally in Minneapolis was no exception.

Early in the rally, a guy carrying a “Teamster for Conservatism” stood at the entrance to the parking lot at the rally site (the Labor Temple, in northeast Minneapolis).  I never did get his name.

Teamster4conservatism_web

He was standing on the curb next to the driveway.  One of the attendees in a Toyota apparently saw him, yelled something, and gunned his engine, forcing the protester to get out of the way.  The driver parked in the parking lot and went into the rally – but the protester and a couple of witnesses got the license number and called the police.  When the rally ended, the Minneapolis Police – who’d been waiting around the event – pulled him over.  Nobody was hurt, and there were no charges to place, but the cops did give the little fella a good talking to, and then made him shake hands with the protester.

As I noted in my previous post on the subject, there weren’t many pro-Obama counterprotesters.  They were pretty standard-issue stuff; not very articulate, not very well-informed, and pretty harmless.

This guy was both of the above – but he brought an element of stupid to the proceedings that livened things up for all of us.  We noticed him when he stood on one of the corners across from the Temple, bellowing “Teabaggers!  Teabaggersj!” over and over again.

marquardt_spine_web

That’s a spine.  With a couple of putative testicles, ready for “Teabagging”, which the protester (whose name we got, but which I’ll keep offline) had helpfully affixed. (Because we have all been assured that when lefties yell about “Teabaggers”, they’re referring to the people who sent bags of Lipton to Congress.  Of course).

As I noted in my previous post (“It’s Fun Being Outside The Alamo For A Change“), not only is it fun outnumbering the other guys out on the streets for the first time I can remember – but I hate to think what it’s like for the lefties being stuck inside the Alamo with some of these whackdoodles.

Dang, Mitch. That dude with the detached spine reminds me of DFLRick for some reason.

  2. angryclown Says:

It appears the second protester is a liberal making directing a well-placed criticism to Senate Democrats on healthcare. To wit, suggesting they grow a spine and a pair of ballz.

  3. flash Says:

Aaaaah, taking a page of the GOP’s ProtestWarrior handbook. Jealousy must be driving this post LOL

  4. Mitch Berg Says:

Ah, yeah, Flash, the old “I know you are but what am I” gambit. Never fails.

And it’s another example of you (like all leftybloggers) repeating things you were told to repeat by your superiors – who a few years ago decided to try to defame Protest Warrior as a vulgar, violent group.

So, Flash – please show us any actual examples of Protest Warrior actually being vulgar or profane, much less violent. Because while it’s possible a Protest Warrior tried to ram someone with a car, I don’t recall it ever happening. And either do you.

I’ll give you a hint; you can’t. It never happened. Protest Warrior played for yuks, every time. Media Matters spread the meme in ’08 that PW was violent, and the whole sorosphere dutifully repeated the meme without really questioning it (because that’s what they’re there for; to repeat memes and not ask questions).

But feel free to support your case. Or make another giggly “I know you’re Scaifenet In The Onion but what am I?” reference and pengima away without answering the question. Your call.

  5. Mr. D Says:

Aaaaah, taking a page of the GOP’s ProtestWarrior handbook.

So Flash, which tactic identified here did the ProtestWarriors use back in the day? Assaulting someone with a Toyota, or using anatomically correct props? Looking forward to your update….

First PROVE anyone has told me to say anything, because, you can’t, So Shut the ‘F’ up until you have proof, which you’ll never have, cause it doesn’t exists.

And the same for ALL. I am sure, in your twisted way, you can find some place where a few may be bowing to some superior, but ALL. Christ, even you know that is a fallacy.

So I ask, unless you have proof, quite smearing me. And you can start with an apology.

Sheesh, I always said friends first so then you keep crossing the line and keep stabbing me in the bag.

    Flash
Ya, I’m pissed, and you can’t wipe it away this time with ‘It’s just business’

First PROVE anyone has told me to say anything, because, you can’t, So Shut the ‘F’ up until you have proof, which you’ll never have, cause it doesn’t exists.

So you decided to smear the ProtestWarriors on your own initiative, then. Way to be proactive, Flash!

  8. Chad The Elder Says:

The phrase “stabbing me in the bag” is particular wince-worthy given the photo that accompanies this post.

  9. Kermit Says:

Unintentional humor is often the best.

  10. flash Says:

    Who said it was unintentional!

Mitch, still waiting . . . proof or apology. And since one doesn’t exist, I expect the other!

  11. Mitch Berg Says:

    Flash,

You walked directly into my point.

First PROVE anyone has told me to say anything, because, you can’t, So Shut the ‘F’ up until you have proof, which you’ll never have, cause it doesn’t exists.

So – you’re all upset that I’ve said you, personally, take your marching orders from Media Matters, and you’re demanding proof! Well, fine – more on that in a bit. You didn’t seem so upset about it when you said I was using “Faux” news talking points, or GOP “talking points” (that’s actually most of you leftybloggers), or spent a year or two claiming that there was some big shadowy “Scaifenet” that I was getting my content from.

    Why’s that?

And the same for ALL. I am sure, in your twisted way, you can find some place where a few may be bowing to some superior, but ALL. Christ, even you know that is a fallacy.

    Gosh, d’ya think?

OF COURSE you don’t sit in on a conference call with Media Matters to get your orders.

But as someone who observes what people write and how, I think it’s interesting how a “Media Matters” or a Huffpo or Kos will use a term – say, “Tea Bagger” or “Faux News” or “Obama Will Cut Taxes!” or “Protest Warrior is a violent group!”, and within three or four days you (plural) all will be saying it pretty much in unison. No, not taking orders on a conference call, but certainly playing “follow the leader”.

So I ask, unless you have proof, quite smearing me. And you can start with an apology.

“Smear?” Good lord, you’re touchy today.

Flash, the “Proof” – evidence, really – is in what you wrote; the bit about “the GOP’s ProtestWarrior handbook”. So you seemed to be implying that ProtestWarrior made crude scatological jokes or tried to ram people with cars. This was a slander that Media Matters was throwing around in 2006, when Protest Warrior was at its peak, and that lesser bloggers (like “Phoenix Woman” at Mercury Rising ) passed around as fact, with absolutely no proof – ever. The left does this a lot, knowing as both Saul Alinsky and Joseph Göbbels knew – that if you repeat a lie often enough, people believe it; it’s a standard tactic on the far left AND on the far “right”.

I asked you for any evidence that Protest Warrior had ever engaged in ANY such activity; I helpfully pointed out that you could not, since it’s a complete fabrication.

Did you know it’s a fabrication? I doubt it. Were you repeating something you heard from a other leftyblogger, without giving it a whole lot of critical thought? I’d suspect so. Did you hear it on a conference call from Media Matters? Of course not. Did it originate with Media Matters or the Daily Kos or DU? Very probably.

Sheesh, I always said friends first so then you keep crossing the line and keep stabbing me in the bag.

Er, Flash? I didn’t stab you anywhere. I asked you to substantiate something you wrote – that Protest Warrior had ever done anything as depraved as the crap that the two idiots at the Franken rally did yesterday. I suggested that you’ve bought into a group fiction. That is all. If you want to read anything more than that into it, I’m sorry, but that’s on your end.

Ya, I’m pissed, and you can’t wipe it away this time with ‘It’s just business’

Well, that’s all it is, like it or not. I didn’t impugn you personally in any way. It’s your call.

  12. BradC Says:

As the head of the MN chapter of PW, I can tell you our group was more jocular than anything. We would parody the left’s empty slogans and watch them freak out. No need to get too provactive when many of those people were so deranged.

And violent? Not us. Heck, we were typically outnumbered by a ratio of 5 to 1. If we had ever attempted to physically instigate something the results would have been quite unfavorable for our side.

First PROVE anyone has told me to say anything, because, you can’t, So Shut the ‘F’ up until you have proof…

flash, you’re hardly in a position to be so outraged given you’re constant implications of Mitch getting “maching orders” from Richard Mellon Scaife.

  13. Mitch Berg Says:

OK, Flash – I apologize for implying, even unintentionally, that you got your marching orders on the 7AM converence call with George Soros. No such intention existed, and I apologize for having made it, no matter how inadvertently or via even the most improbable level of rhetorical misdirection, intentional or otherwise.

Now, with that out of the way – tell us all about ProtestWarrior’s record as a scatological, violent organization.

  14. flash Says:

And he moves the goal posts, what a ‘Richard’!

To me it is about disingenuous folks infiltrating the opposition and trying to cause a problem.

You give one a pass and call out the other out. Either they both are wrong or both are acceptable.

All I have ever asked is that folks pick whatever rules they want, and apply them equally to both sides, when you can’t do that, you are nothing but a bunch of hypocrites.

And you clearly and explicitly stated I was ‘told’ what to say, and that is bull shit!

“”No matter how inadvertently or via even the most improbable level of rhetorical misdirection, intentional or otherwise.””

There is nothing Inadvertent, nor was any rhetorical misdirection used to interpret this statement:

“”And it’s another example of you (like all leftybloggers) repeating things you were told to repeat by your superiors””

No apology with the disclaimers you used can be accepted.

  15. Ben Says:

the above post proves the theory that Liberalism is a mental disorder. Flash just jumped off the deep end of the pool

  16. Yossarian Says:

Oh no. Flash won’t accept an online apology.

Gosh, I hope the world will keep spinning.

  17. Mitch Berg Says:

No apology with the disclaimers you used can be accepted.

Well, that’s fair, I suppose, since whatever it was I wrote or did or whatever doesn’t warrant an apology among people who can keep this stuff in any kind of perspective.

    Onward and upward!

Do you have that information about Protest Warrior’s record of vulgarity and violence?

  18. Kermit Says:

Flash, I’m sure Mitch deeply regrets that you routinely succumb to group think and repeat ad hominem as a matter of course. I also wait with great anticipation the data regarding Protest Warriors record of vulgarity and violence.
In the meantime, I’ll watch some YouTube of Janeane Garawfulo and think about you.

  19. Master of None Says:

    Mitch and Flash

  20. Yossarian Says:

In the meantime, I’ll watch some YouTube of Janeane Garawfulo and think about you.

Ewwwww. Why not just lop off your penis with a razor blade, for all the good it would do you after going down that disgusting path.

  21. Kermit Says:

Aversion therapy is often the most effective.

  22. flash Says:

“Well, that’s fair, I suppose, since whatever it was I wrote or did or whatever doesn’t warrant an apology among people who can keep this stuff in any kind of perspective.”

“”you . . . repeating things you were told to repeat by your superiors””

This comment of your implies I follow dutifully some orders from a superior. That, like this blog, is a total bold face FN lie!

    Your new name is Richard!!

  23. K-Rod Says:

    Bwwwwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahaha!!!!
    ….

“All I have ever asked is that folks pick whatever rules they want, and apply them equally to both sides, when you can’t do that, you are nothing but a bunch of hypocrites.” – Flush

    “So Shut the ‘F’ up…” – Flush
    &
“…and that is bull shit!” – Flush

Well flush, you delete that kind of language or less (you even delete facts if they aren’t Soros approved) from your blog, yet you don’t ever seem to have a problem using that kind of language on SitD.

    Flush = Hypocrite

  24. Mitch Berg Says:

    Flash,

    Duly noted.

Do you have that info about Protest Warrior yet? Violence? Disgusting stuff? Anything?

    Even one semi-credible objective link?

Or shall we call you “Baghdad Flash?”

  25. Mitch Berg Says:

    AK,

Ooof. I mean, thanks for the defense and all, but let’s keep it civil.

It’s all nothing but business for me – partly because I honestly don’t care what anyone think about me, and partly because I do keep it in perspective (how much does any of this really matter, really?) and who really cares anyway?

  26. Kermit Says:

I thought Baghdad Flash’s indictment of Protest Warrior was superb. Oh wait, all he did was bag on Mitch (yet again). Hmm. The only FN lie I’ve seen so far is Flash saying “I know you are, but what am I?” Like a petulant child.
Way to bolster the old cred, Flash.

  27. BradC Says:

That, like this blog, is a total bold face FN lie!

    We’ll miss ya, flash.

  28. BradC Says:

To be honest, Mitch, I like your approach in keeping a level head. The next time you see your neighbor, he’ll feel like a complete putz for spouting off like a deranged lunatic while you maintained a sense of decorum.

    Kudos!

  29. swiftee Says:

Flush won’t know for sure if your apology is accepted until after 7:00 am tomorrow, Mitch.

Personally, I think flush is just pissed because you’ve made his Monday morning trip to deposit his Soroscheck™ less enjoyable…..don’t sweat it, Flush m’boy…a stinking lefty moneychangers dough spends just as well as anyone elses.

‘Sides, no one can say you don’t do your part to help George “de-Nazify” America! Hahhahahahahahahaaaaaa!

  30. Mitch Berg Says:

I”m cleaning up the comment section a bit; some of it got overheated. Write me offline if it matters to you.

Let’s do try to be civil.

  31. K-Rod Says:

Flush, that meltdown of yours only scored a 7.8, you have done much much better.

And keep it going with your hypocrisy, you are so good at it.
