Don’t Look Now…

By Mitch Berg

…but I get the impression someone is sliding ever so slowly back toward conservatorship.

“River Red”? Maybe she is one of those women who goes nuts every month.

    ‘oy, UMMP.

I have relatives who’ve struggled with bipolar disorder for decades, and this reminds me of all the times we knew a manic episode was coming because one relative started buying and selling cars. If Sam Asghari loves her, he needs to do what he can to get her some help.

Reminder: you don’t own people, and are not entitled to dictate their lives, just because you can summon them up on Netflix or social media whenever you want. Carry on…

Emery is busy using ChatGPT to compose his next pro vaccine mandate, pro masking screed.
    Carry on . . .

Was hoping MBerg would’ve had his hot take on the passing of David Crosby — instead of the Daily Mail/National Enquirer cheap shots…

  6. bikebubba Says:

Emery, what on earth was that comment about “dictate lives”? Do you have no compassion for people who are clearly showing signs of mental illness?

    bike;
Are you kidding? When someone is deranged themselves, they can’t see it in others.

When did your life become something other than chattel for your mother to dispose of at her whim?

  9. Emery Says:

@BB I feel it’s poor form from SiTD to make fun of an individual with mental health issues. But the editorial board sees things differently. Making the assumption that people still suffering are doing so because they have not sought treatment or not gotten the “right” one, is a bad assumption and unfortunately a very common one.

Emery appears to believe that he is not only a troll, but the troll my comment is directed towards.
Sometimes I feel that I know the joy a cat feels in tormenting a weak, squirming mousey.

  13. Emery Says:

Naw. It was an entirely defensible, accurate, and really minor observation. And you whining about it says far more about you than me. Be honest— there’s nobody on SiTD that is as obsessed with homosexuals as much you.

Fly you freak flag Woolly. 🏳️‍🌈

  14. Ultra Maga Mammuthus Primigenesis Says:

^^anyone have any idea what “observation” the troll is talking about? Because I don’t.
I have noticed that as the day goes by, Emery’s comments get more confusing and nasty. Day drinking? Or sundowning? It’s open to debate.
    Keep squirming.

“I feel it’s poor form from SiTD to make fun of an individual with mental health issues”

We’ve certainly seen how well affirming, supporting and encouraging mental health issues is working out.

    Nut cases…

  18. bikebubba Says:

Emery, I can’t think of anything our host could do to make more brutal sport of Ms. Spears than what she’s done already. And as TKS notes, we’ve got a record of how our hands-off, noninterventionist approach has worked–it’s relentlessly lethal.

It’s time to encourage people to recognize that something is seriously wrong here, and people who care ought to pull her aside to get her some help.

  19. John "Bigman" Jones Says:

“You dont own people and are not entitled to dictate their lives” is the mantra liberals use to justify doing nothing to treat mentally ill homeless but instead allow them to wander unmedicated, delusional, filthy, freezing, and alone.

    Cruel.

  20. Blade Nzimande Says:

Bigman, I’ve told this before, bit I have a brother that wandered for 7 years. Living in his truck and camping in the woods in Idaho…we had no idea where he was.

He had been diagnosed with schizophrenia and other problems before he disappeared. We tried to get him help, and when we got too pushy, he disappeared.

We found out when the Sheriff in Bend Oregon called me on July 4, 1989 to say my brother had been stabbed (by a fucking Mexican in the country illegally), and that I needed to come right away.

    He lives with us now.

My point is, that for a lot of these people, especially the ones that self medicate with drugs and or alcohol, there is nothing you can do for the mentally ill, unless they are willing, or you are willing to commit them….if you can find a hospital to take them.

  21. Emery Says:

The same could be said about homelessness. Which is overwhelmingly a problem of mental illness and substance abuse, usually both. Give these people any shelter you like and those two problems have not gone away. These are people who are not well and cannot look after themselves. Homelessness will not be solved until we accept that cruel reality.

In the same breath it’s also correct to say their painful, unhealthy and dangerous street life also causes a great deal of distress—and ultimately great expense—to their fellow citizens too.

  24. Emery Says:

Seriously Pig, I appreciate your contextualization of this issue and would remind you that the politicization of abortion emerged as a really cynical tactic rather than from any deep-seated concern about infants. I find the framing of MBerg’s question to be disingenuous, as well.

  25. Pig Bodine Says:

    Emery

    Still not an answer!

When did your life become something other than chattel for your mother to dispose of at her whim?

  26. Emery Says:

The key to the Supreme Court decision is that the political issue of abortion can never die. No matter what is in place, no matter for how long it is place, no matter what the people voted it can be brought forward to be changed with no real way for an end to be made.

Roe sought to give each side a partial victory preserving the rights of each woman while protecting viable fetuses equally across all jurisdictions. The Court now has closed the door to any reason and any equality ensuring that power available will be used to the extreme at any opportunity.
