Does anyone watch Colbert?
The latest info I could find says he averages less than 700,000 viewers each night, out of 130 million Americans, age 19-49 (this is the demographic most valued by advertisers).
That’s about one out of every 400 Americans watching Colbert’s Late Show
And Colbert’s reaction to Trump is entirely emotional. He mentions misinformation and disinformation (w/o citing any examples). Otherwise, like the TDS types who comment on SITD, he is long on rage, short on reason.
I suspect that Colbert’s audience skews towards media and entertainment people. Why else would anyone care? Colbert’s Late Show doesn’t even make the list of the top 100 regularly broadcast television shows in the US.

A bigger question is why shareholders are not up in arms to pull the show off the air that is not making money.

The show undoubtedly “makes money”, whatever the case it might be about ratings performance.
And Viacom as a whole, “makes money”.
And shareholder activism on the whole hasn’t intruded into managerial stuff like granular product selection.
But if you’ve got a different piece of insight from one of your preferred sources outside reputable business reporting, do let us know…
