If anyone is tempted to rescue the aristos in this case a la the Scarlet Pimpernel, I can recommend gloves and bleach….. :^)

And remember that Robespierre was ultimately eaten by the beast he uncaged and fed. The lawyer and politician was also author of “Vice and Terror”, justifying condemnation and execution without trial or testimony.
