If It Didn’t Exist, Someone Would Have To Make It Up

By Mitch Berg

I didn’t even know Minnesota had a best mullet contest:

A 3-year-old Red Wing boy has won first prize in this year’s Minnesota Mullet Contest, and yes, there is such a thing.

But I guess I shouldn’t be surprised.

Hockey Moms magazine, a Minnesota publication that’s distributed at hockey arenas, named Brady Arneson’s blond hairdo the best.

Mullets are a family tradition for the Arnesons — Brady’s older brother Blake won the same award in 2005. Their father Scott Arneson also had a mullet as a child.

I think they also do a “cutest gap in teeth” award.

Aaargh. A close second in awfulness is the “rat tail” on little boys…that one long piece of hair in the back. Usually relegated to trailer court denizens (yes, that sounds snobby…but it’s true).

The reason people in places like Red Wing grow mullets is because they are bitter gun lov’n Jesus freaks.
But at least they pay their taxes.

Isn’t this grounds for a child abuse charge?

I’m good for a nice long mullet now and then. Helps keep the sunburn off my neck during drum corps season.
