Franken: Let Them Eat Booya

By Mitch Berg

Al Franken – Minnesota Politics illiterate?

Brodkorb:

“Franken has always had an interest in politics.

He lists his political heroes as Hubert Humphrey, Eugene McCarthy, Walter Mondale and Wellstone. But he could name only one House member from Minnesota: Democrat Martin Sabo.” Source: Sacramento Bee, June 3, 2004

Which, for a guy that had already been running in effect for Senate for over a year, is pretty funny stuff.

My god, Doug. You’re still beating this dead horse?

“…where I said, that Kerry SHOULD face a trial if he did in fact participate in actions that violated the law.”

“Do you consider that you personally as a Naval officer committed atrocities in Vietnam or crimes punishable by law in this country?

There are all kinds of atrocities, and I would have to say that, yes, yes, I committed (HEY DOUG! LOOOK AT ME! I’M CONFESSING TO WAR CRIMES!!) the same kind of atrocities as thousands of other soldiers (THOUSANDS, DOUG! THOUSANDS. I’M ACCUSING THEM ALL OF THE SAME WAR CRIMES THAT I AM CONFESSING TO! DON’T BELIEVE ME? KEEP READING!!) have committed in that I took part in shootings in free fire zones. I conducted harassment and interdiction fire. I used 50 calibre machine guns, which we were granted and ordered to use, which were our only weapon against people. I took part in search and destroy missions, in the burning of villages. All of this is (HERE IT COMES DOUG!) contrary to the laws of warfare, all of this is contrary to the Geneva Conventions (ALL OF IT DOUG! ALL OF IT. THE ACTIONS OF ME AND THOUSANDS OF OTHERS – ALL WAR CRIMES ACCORDING TO THE GENEVA CONVENTIONS. WE’RE ALL GUILTY!!!)

“”…where I said, that Kerry SHOULD face a trial if he did in fact participate in actions that violated the law.”

Either Kerry is a self-confessed war criminal, or a liar. Take your pick. And yet, you insist on clinging to some bizarre semantic absurdity in your attempt to excuse him.

    Interesting.

(continuing to beat a dead horse)
What do you think he meant by ‘we’ , Doug? The Winter Soldiers organization? the United States armed forces? All of humanity? The American taxpayer? Some nebulous ‘we’ that passively implies an ethical crime had been committed without an ethical human actor?
Kerry had a very good education, the kind that in the US is reserved for the ruling class. He was the democrat nominee for president in 2004. His testimony, at least his opening statement, was without doubt prepared beforehand. Was Kerry unable to find the words to express what he really meant? How deep are you going to dig your hole, Doug?
Keep in mind that you’ve already written “Kerry didn’t accuse anyone of committing war crimes.”
Learn something about words and language. Minnesota has a very good post-secondary education system. Please take advantage of it.

” The Winter Soldiers organization? the United States armed forces? All of humanity?”

I put it to you, Greg. Isn’t this an indictment of the entire University system!

You can do what you want to us. But we’re not going to sit here and listen to you – bad mouth – the United States of America!

(featuring an equally lovable and coherent, “Doug”)

  4. mike Says:

Who was also, according to John Kerry, a war criminal.

  5. Terry Says:

    Mike-
You’re incoherent. Who the Hell is ‘Greg’?

  6. Doug Says:

    Terry said,

“What do you think he meant by ‘we’ , Doug?”

    and

“Learn something about words and language.”

Why do you insist on avoiding a simple question I put to you? Who is the “we” he is referring to?
