Re: Career Opportunities
Dear Mr. Spacey,
It’s been a long time since you lit up the small screen with your performance as Mel Profitt on Wise Guy (perhaps the most unjustly-obscure great TV show of all time). Verbal Kint? Even American Beauty? Seems like forever.
So I know you’ve been working hard to get back out of the dinner theater circuit. So no doubt your agent told you this would be a great idea.
Perhaps you need to shoot for The Usual Suspects II: Weekend At Keyser’s.
Just saying.
That is all.

That was a good show. He was also in L.A. Confidential, of course, which is one of the most awesomely cool movies of all time.

Yep. He had a ton of good stuff. LA Confidential, Usual Suspects and Wise Guy were like a trifecta of late ’80s, early ’90s cool.

As far as I’m concerned, LA Confidential is absolute gold.
Effing boat movie.

Not to nitpick, but Spacey’s role on Wise Guy was Mel Profitt. It was the second story arc of that series, after Sonny Steelgrave (Ray Sharkey) offed himself. It was still good TV, but the series slipped a notch after losing Steelgrave and the pre-Soprano’s Jersey mafioso focus.

Saint,
D’oh. You’re right.
Amazing what twenty years’ll do for trivia retention…
