Unpopular but correct opinion: Somalis are no different than any other 1st/2nd gen immigrants; some are criminals; most aren’t.
What does ALL the fraud have in common?
The DFL. The non-profit system. And Walz’s “inability” (heh heh) to control it.
You can say the circumstances under which Somalis were brought here – a Clinton-era State Dept. program that gave money to non-profits to settle them here, to benefit the DFL – were a little suspicious. You might have a point.
So – what does that lead us to?
The non-profit/government complex – the system that transfers taxpayer money to non-profits to do pseudo-government-y things, only without any accountability.
“Without any accountability? What do you mean?”
We’re at a billion dollars in fraud * so far*, and sources tell me there’s an even bigger wave on the way; we’re STILL just scratching the surface.
Seeing a pattern?
By the way, while there are a lot of immigrants – the illegal ones – that we need to deal with, people with TPS[1] aren’t them; they are already closely monitored. Somali with TPS – there are 200 of them in Minnesota – aren’t the problem.
I interviewed a counterterrorism expert once; he said 15% of Somali have *some* sympathy with terrorists, almost all of it passive. And that we learn about them from the *other* 85% who want nothing to do with that.
So if you want to knock out this state’s fraud problem, let’s go after the real villain; the non-profit/government complex, and the people who have *at best* mismanaged it, and at worst created it.
[1] Not to me confused with Somali creating TPS reports…

Those folks who adore their NGOs are also the same people who freak out over the idea of prisons being run by a non-government entity.

You know, you could be a bit more subtle about writing posts solely as click bait.
Pretty apparent how you minimized almost to the point of removing any personal responsibility from our oh-so precious Somali immigrants for all the 5hit they brought to MN. Yeah, sure, of course, they would’ve been such helpful and useful members of American society if not for the DFL.

In my opinion the Somalis come from a low trust culture where graft is endemic. And yes, Minnesota made it easy for them.
May I suggest reading or listening to podcasts of Raymond Ibrahim. Raymond is a scholar of Islam and he will tell you they do not want to live in peaceful co-existence. We have been at war with Islam for 1300 years.
i recommend Sword and Scimitar. A gripping book detailing 8 epic battles between Christianity and Islam. Some we won, others won by Islam. Raymond makes it clear they are still at war with us.

Geez, even other MNns who live closer to or amongst these “east africans” know they’re a problem – without even mentioning the DFL even once.

Agreed, not all Somali immigrants are thieves. But not all have to be, just enough to steal a BILLION dollars of taxpayer money to send to terrorists in East Africa.
And those thieves don’t exist in a vacuum. They recruited other Somali families to participate in the fraud in exchange for kickbacks. It’s not just 75 thieves who got prosecuted – they were just the big dogs of the pack – it’s lots and lots of other thieves, as well.
I could believe if someone said “There are two tribes of Somalis living in Minnesota, Tribe A is all thieves but Tribe B was frozen out and completely innocent.” Nobody is saying that. So yes, we’re painting with a broad brush to say “Somali immigrants are thieves” but it’s justified by a BILLION dollars of thefts.
As Dr. Walter Williams explained, there’s an economic reason for stereotypes: they’re efficient. In this case, they might also be true.
