A Modest Counterproposal
By Mitch Berg
The Strib notes that the new Minnesota state flag is not getting traction outside DFL neighborhoods:
Don’t get me wrong – I like Brehm’s idea.
But I also think we should leave things as they are. Having two state flags – one foisted on the state by a pack of arrogant wannabe tyrants set on destroying institutions, the other flown in defiance – is a perfect metaphor for Minnesota today.
Divisiveness was the intent of the new flag.
In a state with a functioning GOP, that divisiveness could be driven home to roost – a powerful metaphor for a campaign built around rolling back the tyrannical excesses of the gaggle of middle school mean girls of all genders who ran this state into the ground.
If the MNGOP won’t do it, someone needs to.

Leave it be. Fly the old flag. It drives them nuts.
Then, someday, Walz will send in the National Guard to take them down.

How long before people get kicked off the suburban city council or school board for flying a racist supremacist hate symbol, aka the old state flag?
Might as well go whole hog and fly a Confederate battle flag.

My thought is that while it’s a good start to simply keep the old flag, true mockery of Walz might be achieved with a state flag of Goldie, Victor, and TC Bear being served gigantic mugs of Hamm’s by the Hamm’s Bear while playing poker…all on black velvet.

I have several customers that are still flying the real flag.

I ride my bike throughout the neighborhoods from W 7th to Merriam and everything in-between….the new MN flag is prominent as are the other color flags that I detest, but then I’ll come upon and original MN flag, and a stars n stripes and i almost stop, grt off bike snd salute, but i dont lol….it literally is left vs right with this flag.

This would be a good time to be a seller of state flags, in Minnesota.

After they announced the new flag and pretty much rammed it down our throats, there were two retailers that were interviewed by the lame stream media, asking how sales of the new flag were going. The owners gave them the answer that they didn’t want. New flag sales were so, so, but they had sold out all of their original flags and had a waiting list for them when they received new stock.

My survey yesterday of ‘official’ flagpoles in my rapidly growing exurban community revealed a grand total of ZERO Vichy Somalia flags.
