Pre-Cognitive Dissonance
By Mitch Berg
Am I the only one that heard about Taylor Lorenz’s “Joy” at the murder of Brian Thompson…
…and thought “that certainly puts a new spin on the Harris campaign’s theme?”
- Freedom is slavery?
- 2+2=5?
- Murder is joy?
One “joy” I try to deny myself is excessive schadenfreud. Pinky swear.
But I’ll confess, I feel quite a bit of it seeing Lorenz’s sociopathic level of self-unawareness splashed about the place:
Less schadenfreud, Mitch. Less schadenfreud.Â

The power of Puritanism is great in this country. From Mencken: ‘Puritanism: The haunting fear that someone, somewhere, may be happy.
I don’t understand why you feel guilty about feeling schadenfreud. Is there some rule or recommendation stating it’s a bad thing?
To feel pleasure when some malicious person gets what they deserve is completely normal. Not enough of them do and we have a bumper crop of them after the last 4 to 8 years.

When I see creatures like Lorenz, AOC, Omar, Griffith, etc, prancing across the world stage with their usual entitled confidence I’m always curious what kind of self respecting sick puppy would want to ‘hit that”.

Imagine if you will a world where Donald Trump had not turned his head slightly at the moment his assassin pressed the trigger. The outright obscene celebratory demonstrations would possibly have provoked an overwhelming reaction leading into a real insurrection, not a pretend one. There would be blood in the streets for weeks and no one would have been safe.

Ben Shapiro played a clip of Taylor and her “Joy” and the Piers Morgan show. I gotta say I’ve gained a new appreciation for old school libs like Morgan and Maher. Morgan was aghast at Taylor’s “Joy” and immediately called her out on. Watching her attempt to backpedal was entertaining, even if it was disingenuous.

SSC, Sen Pocahontas tried the same trick with just as little luck.

JDM,
At some point people are going to have to put together the fact that they hate the health insurance companies and the fact that those health insurance companies are essentially a creation of government rules and regulations. Before ObamaCare people complained about health care costs and they disliked the insurance companies. Post ObamaCare the people say that health care costs are killing people and they hate the insurance companies. The inability of the general public to put 2 and 2 together is depressing.

JDM makes a good point. Fauxcohontas said killing insurance execs is bad, but sometimes people get pushed too far and take the law into their own hands.
Really? That makes it okay to murder them? Good to know, because I’ve got quite a list of people who’ve pushed me too far, starting with that b***h on the homeowner’s association board and continuing all the way down to the Human Resources department which refuses to pay me extra wages as compensation for the indignity my ancestors suffered a century ago.
Now let’s talk about the J6 protesters.

Who are literally still being arrested as of November.

The elites never see themselves as being on the receiving end of the hatred they stir up and condone. Brian Thompson was an “elite” guy with money and power, picked off on the sidewalk by someone pushed too far. What if some wacko’s anger is pushed too far by some prominent proggie?
For all the posturing about the sure wave of right-wing violence, and chill winds of repression, the Left sees themselves as rhetorical victims, not potential ones. Unfortunately, Robespierre is unavailable for comment but his story is instructive for those who care to look up the French Revolution and the Reign of Terror beast he helped loose and that turned and ate him as well.

I guarantee you that if you are the correct elitist, like Nancy Pelosi, Chucklehead Shumer or Mitch McConnell, there will be outrage if they get picked off!

What if some wacko’s anger is pushed too far by some prominent proggie?
And what about when, not if, we start talking about those who might push us too far?
Or who stochastically push too far?
Remember – today’s joke is tomorrow’s policy.
