OK, so moving to Canada after threatening it over and over again may be a bit much.
But changing social media platforms (after two years of threatening)? That’s a little more doable.
Last week a friend of the blog emailed:
Blue sky app. Looks and works pretty much like X. Their world views are safe there. They speak very freely again which is good humor. Just search your favorite MN media person they are there. No invite needed.
The FotB was referring to BlueSky – which is basically “X” but an echo chamber for the left.
Y’know – Jack Dorsey’s original vision for Twitter, before being foiled by Elon Musk.
And today:
One week on Blue sky and they really have posted nothing revelant.
Lots of angry libs
I’m missing a party with both the formerly cool but recently genocidal Bob Collins and Kate Knuth?
I may need to take the weekend to grieve.

They’re in with the in crowd. LOL.
I’m personally laughing at the people and companies, primarily journalists and outlets like The Guardian, that are very publicly going to Blue Sky, but in the same self congratulatory tweet inform everyone that they need to keep using their Twitter account to lurk because of business reasons.
Look, they’re just taking their own advice about social media sites and since they don’t like X, they’re building their own version.
There’s a plus and minus with that. Sure, they’ll feel comfy and protected from disagreement, but their reach will be even more limited, and their conformist opinion will have much lower signal-to-noise ratio, so they’ll be lost in a sea of blue over there.
Safety does reduce risk, but it also lessens rewards. There’s a reason that when the EU was formed it was about the size of the US economy, but by regulating the crap out of themselves they’ve made things safe in an economy half the size of the US’s now. They’ve traded prosperity for safety, and I hope they’re happy with that.
They’re going to stop listening to Rush and start listening to Ed Schultz.
Not sure what happened to Collins. It’s kind of a tragedy.
McNeil? Well, the tragedy is that someone actually still puts him on the air. He sucked chunks through a straw when he was at KSTP.
I’m waiting for the moment when one of these brain addled types just one word that offends another member of the mob. It should be hilarious when they start canceling their own.
^ I heard tell, boss, that is exactly what’s happening already on bluesky for pretty much the exact same reason that FRESCHFISCH stated.
It’s almost as if none of these people have ever heard of the block button. That thing works really well, except for the tweets that pay to get put into your timeline. People didn’t need to leave the platform to get away from people they don’t like. They just need to hit block, repeatedly.
Personally, I miss the old school Twitter. 140 character limits encouraged you to be brief and preferably snarky, while the chronological timeline kept things fresh. Now when I do log on, my timeline is full of sponsored tweets and the chronology is all mixed up. I’ve always warned people that if you’re not paying for the service then you’re the product. I knew Twitter wasn’t sustainable as it started, and I’m not sure it’s ever turned a profit, but I think Jack made it too much like Facebook before he took the money and ran.
As seen on X yesterday-“as far as those celebrities threatening to move to Canada, why not Mexico you racist bastards…!”

It’s fun just to see just how angry Bob Collins and Matt McNeil are. They are not happy people.
