Here’s A Radical Concept

By Mitch Berg

Democrats must have another raft of social spending initiatives in the queue. Suddenly child poverty is an issue again:

Here’s a radical idea; stop inflating working families’ money into worthlessness?

Hmmm… what is not mentioned is that all that poverty is in libturd-ran cities. Curious that, huh?

OK, as a taxpayer with a bunch of kids, yes, it did hurt a bit that the child tax credit dropped from $3000 per child to $2000. But let’s not mince words here; if indeed that means that five million kids dropped into poverty due to the decrease, then what we have is millions of families right around the poverty line, which was about $27,750 for a family of four in 2022. (30k this year)

What this means, given mean wages for entry level work at about $12/hour, is that two wage-earners in these families were unable to together obtain ~2300 hours of work in a year. Keep in mind as well that people at this level are going to end up getting any number of other benefits–Medicaid, WIC, SNAP, TANF, and the like.

And why is that that they do not get this amount of labor to pay them? Perhaps it has something to do with cities that don’t punish crime, pushing employers out and reducing wages. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that poverty can be pretty darned comfortable in this country.

I think you got the reasoning backwards, Mitch. Republicans control the House, so therefore child poverty, whatever that is, has exploded.

Evil Landlord: Want to see how fast I can put that in my pocket?
