Vibraaaaant!

I am reliably informed that, after two weekends featuring Taylor Swift, Pride and Taste of Minnesota, downtown Minneapolis is back, baby!

So this must be a mistake.

Apparently we need a Super Bowl or monster truck rally downtown. Something.

  1. Anyone at City Hall or within the MPD that didn’t EXPECT this needs to be fired and find a new career in a different field. Perhaps Walmart Greeter or retail cashier.
This was completely expected by many of us. I’ll take it a step further, and predict that this will continue to happen every year until it is met with force and crushed. (Another option is Mary Moriarty using the next 364 days to lock up as many of these hoodlums as possible for crimes they commit.
I hate to say because I’ll feel bad for the people tasked with the job, but Mayor Fry should get those triplicate request forms filled out for July 4, 2024 and get some of those “19 year old cooks” from Governor Walz. As the tweet said, law enforcement was overwhelmed. They should get reinforcement next year.

  2. Those juveniles like monster trucks?

^ SmithStCrx, I’m just a rural bumpkin who rarely travels into the metro and practically never into Mpls. Why was this expected?

  3. They should get reinforcement next year.

    Bull!

This is what Minneapolis residents voted for.

No outside agency should waste its time and personnel on a fire that Minneapolis has been stoking for years.

Helping the city soften the affects of its own self-flagellation is what is known as enabling.

  4. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.kare11.com/amp/article/news/local/july-4-concludes-with-young-people-shooting-fireworks-aiming-at-minneapolis-police/89-f599e4aa-08b0-4c56-bb1e-c45b89c4c814

Just kids (youth). Having Innocent fun (shooting Roman Candles at cops). Most likely Amish Finlanders. Those scamps. We’ve all been there.

No risk to public, City was fully prepared (shut down public spaces to provide areas to blow off steam and certain imported Chinese products). Plenty of law enforcement on hand (with State Patrol help).

Nothing to see here. Minneapolis Is Back. Move along.

  5. Nobody went downtown that weekend. There were way too many people there. 😉

I’m surprised anyone even went to her concerts. Because of all the crime, you know.

  6. JDM, it’s what happened last year and Minneapolis officials don’t acknowledge the City’s problems.
Last year on the fourth of July in Minneapolis a bunch of thugs drove around firing fireworks at each other and anyone else in the vicinity, including local residents watching from their balconies. There’s plenty of video out there of. (My Facebook memories this morning reminded me I shared someone’s posted video last year). This will continue to be a Minneapolis tradition until the City government makes it clear through overwhelming force along with prosecution and incarceration that this is unacceptable. Minneapolis government doesn’t have the individuals willing to do that.

  7. NW, they’re only trying to claim these are suburban agitators? I’m old enough to remember when they tried to blame the George Floyd Riots on out of state white supremacists. Then it was silence when the arrest records didn’t back that up.

  8. What a pathetic excuse for a police department. One arrest? Meanwhile criminals do whatever they want. The citizens deserve what happens.

  9. Bigman, I showed that to my neighbors last night, as we sat on the porch enjoying cigars.

James said “C’mon now, they’re just standing there shooting ‘em right at the cops”.
Dupree took a puff from his cigar, slowly lifted his head and said “So y’all used to live ‘round there, did ya?”

    I actually blushed.
