Metaphor Alert

The latest Moms Want Action tweet. Like everything MWA says, it’s counterfactual…

…but let’s stick with appearances and play a game of “Where’s Waldo”, where “Waldo” = “a black person”.

See her back there? Peering over the shoulder of the woman with ELCA Hair, not that that narrows it down any?

White, upper-middle-class female, utterly entitled, and keeping a few minorities around as visual accessories.

There is no more perfect metaphor for the gun control movement.

  1. “Our grassroots army helped pass the first federal gun safety law in a generation…”

    *pssst….An EO isn’t law.*
Go make me a sammich, and fetch me a beer.

Rather than where’s Latisha, let’s play “I armed the Taliban”!

  2. White, upper-middle-class female, utterly entitled, and desperately looking for something, anything to give meaning to their empty lives. Nice they can add in a shout-out to a wanna-be white, upper-middle-class female, and utterly entitled minority.

  3. Oh, I see the moms have turned off comments…

    Who can reply?
People @MomsDemand follows or mentioned can reply

    How awkward…

  4. The magazine cover in the tweet says the Executive Order will expand background checks, hold the gun industry accountable and support survivors of gun violence.

Here is the actual text of the Executive Order.

    https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/FR-2023-03-17/pdf/2023-05714.pdf

Lesko Brandon calls on Congress to act. He directs bureaucrats to submit reports. He directs the Attorney General to tinker with definitions. He directs other bureaucrats to do publicity campaigns. That’s it.

One sensible idea – he directs law enforcement to enter ballistics data gathered at crime scenes into a national database. Why aren’t they already doing that?

Nothing in this executive order expands background checks. Nothing holds the gun industry accountable (“rogue dealers” are not the gun industry). Nothing does anything immediate or concrete for survivors of gun violence. Everything in this order refers back to federal laws already on the books, which apparently the various branches of the Brandon Administration are not enforcing already so he needed to issue this stern reminder to Do Their Jobs.

Everything about the Executive Order is a lie, campaign propaganda, fluff to satisfy low-information voters who only read headlines and tweets.

    So, typical Democrat tactic, then.

  5. Staaaahp reading the fine print, Bigman?

Just who the hell do you think you are, mister?

  6. The Secretary of Defense; the Attorney General; the Secretary of Homeland Security; the Secretary of Health and Human Services, including through the Surgeon General of the United States; and the Secretary of Education shall undertake efforts to encourage effective use of extreme risk protection orders (‘‘red flag’’ laws), partnering with law enforcement, health care providers, educators, and other community leaders.

So, that pink haired, gender fluid grade 3 teacher is encouraged to turn parents in. Better tell Johnny not to remind Them about chromosomes during Science®️ time, or the feds will come knock down your door.

And don’t argue with Lateesha the community leader when she comes protesting on your lawn, either.

  7. Y’know what would be a good way to fight gun crime?
Put people who commit gun crimes in jail.
No, really, I know it sounds crazy, but it works.

  8. Agree with AUMMP. Use a gun committing a crime or illegally possessing one, i. e. while on parole, make it a mandatory 5 year sentence, no plea deals, no leeway and no time off for good behavior. If a gun is fired during the crime, even if it doesn’t hit anyone, time jumps to 7 years. Someone injured 10 – 15 years. Someone dies, life, with no possibility of parole.

  9. boss, but you gonna hurt the victim’s feelings! In this case the victim is defined as the person who committed a crime. That’s the world we live in.

  10. I strongly suspect that most people arrested for murder in MN have a gun law violation on their criminal record.
But of course that doesn’t mean that everyone who has violated a gun law goes on to become a killer.
But you could adjust the parameters, make it a person who violated a gun law in an offense involving drugs/alcohol, gun was illegal possession outside the home, etc. Find the best correlation & lock those guys up.
We know why they (DA’s, judges) won’t do that, don’t we?
