Wasn’t he actually beaten to death, at least according to the initial reports? My thought here is that if I trust the analysis of the video (which hasn’t been released yet as far as I know), the PD did well to fire and get those officers indicted quickly. It’s never good to try to escape arrest, as the deceased did, but that doesn’t mean you beat someone to death, especially when you outnumber the arrestee 5:1.

This time around there is even less to go around than usual. I’m struck by the contrast between the Alec Baldwin case and any of the BLM fodder cases. It’s taken the DA in New Mexico a whole year to decide whether or not to charge Baldwin. The Memphis case, we are told, is open and shut murder by five cops. So shut up if you would like to see results of an investigation before deciding if there is a basis for murder charges. Apart from the obvious desire of the authorities to get one or more of the accused to flip and testify against the others, I’m at a loss to understand five separate murder charges. It doesn’t surprise me at all that one perp can hand fight five cops. Watch a few episodes of COPS and you’ll be amazed. The loser in a bar fight can fall and sustain a fatal subdural hematoma. I think that’s the most likely scenario, but I await the videotape. There will be violence at the peaceful protests, and it will be justified by the usual suspects. I saw a quote allegedly from Biden deploring violence but he’s just reading the teleprompter.

Regarding the Memphis police brutality, what strikes me is the same thing I contemplate when I think of things like the Rodney King incident; there are times when the batons come out because the incident doesn’t seem to warrant the use of a Glock or Taser (or the Taser hasn’t worked), but officers aren’t comfortable wrestling the suspect into submission.
Not quite sure why that is. Sometimes physical superiority of the suspect is in play, perhaps officers aren’t getting trained in this art, and at other times perhaps they’re warned not to engage because the suspect might grab one of those nifty tools on their belt. But it’s worth noting that in England, where there at least were minimum height standards for the “bobbies”, they were able to handle an awful lot without this kind of thing. Maybe we need to look into it.

The demographics of abortion in MN can be deceiving.
Blacks may use abortion services at a far greater rate than white people, but abortion is not legal because black people wanted it legal. At 7% of the population blacks exist in too small numbers to force any political issue.
Abortion is legal in MN because white people want it to be legal, regardless of how many black & brown babies die at planned parenthood.
