The Tytler Spiral

A quote:

“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations has been 200 years. These nations have progressed through this sequence: From bondage to spiritual faith; From spiritual faith to great courage; From courage to liberty; From liberty to abundance; From abundance to selfishness; From selfishness to apathy; From apathy to dependence; From dependence back into bondage.”

Alexander Fraser Tytler

In completely unrelated news, Governor Klink proposes a budget that is 21% larger than the previous budget.

As predicted by yours truly, it turns the entire “surplus” [1] into permanent spending, giving a pittance back to those earning less than $75,000 – in other words, the ones that didn’t pay the taxes – and calls the payments “Walz Checks”.

I’m a little amazed they’re not called “Walz/Flanagan Checks”.

Not sure why I thought those two things at precisely the same time.

[1] Which is not only the usual overtaxation, but heavily comprising one-time federal money, and spending driven by federal stimulus and inflated a solid 8%. Only the inflation is going to remain.

  1. You didn’t make that. It’s not your money. The Dems will decide how much you need to live and they’ll dole out a taste every so often to keep you in line. You are expected to be grateful.

There are a lot of good people in MN but they’re tired and do not know how to push back.

  2. Where is the huge investment in roads, bridges and buildings? The vast majority of this spend is a transfer of income. Too bad the alternative was Jensen/Birk ….

  3. Really, Bot Boy?

Thanks for showing us, yet again, what a vapid loser you are. We were gaslighted through the incessant ads from various DemoCommie slush funds, that Jensen and Birk were the radical ones. Obviously, those ads were effective on small minded, low information voters like you.

  4. ““A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury.”

Translation: People who do not share your work ethic, morals, traditions and reject your culture.

We didn’t have this problem before the Hart–Celler Act. And it wouldn’t have become death star if Lyndon B. Johnson hadn’t secured “the votes of Niggers for the next 200 years”, with the “Great Society” programs.

Democracy is always doomed to fail outside a carefully defended border.

  5. rAT squeaked impotently: “Where is the huge investment in roads, bridges and buildings? The vast majority of this spend is a transfer of income. Too bad the alternative was Jensen/Birk”

Right, because if Jesen/Birk were in office, there would have been an investment in bridges and roads.

Tell us more about how fucking stupid, you are rAT.

  6. BettyBoop observed: “You didn’t make that. It’s not your money. The Dems will decide how much you need to live and they’ll dole out a taste every so often to keep you in line.”

True, unless you made a major investment in silver back in 2019 at $19.00/oz.

If you did, your money is sitting safe in a safe, next to your firearms.

  7. U.S. Economy Roars Back, Grew 2.9% in Third Quarter

Whatever social problems the US may have, it is truly an economic powerhouse. Historically low 3.5% unemployment, salaries for lower income workers are growing for the first time in decades, savings accounts and certificates finally paying more than 2%, GDP growth of 3% now considered “low”, what a tragedy. What can we do to have more of these economic calamities in the future, vote for old Democrats?

  8. Need to remind Emery that his political analysis skills are crap:
This is nuts. The only comments I have made about the midterms & abortion was to note that in WI in 2022, despite extremely strict anti-abortion laws, and despite the Dems running heavily on a pro-abortion theme, the GOP kept the US senate seat that was on the ballot, flipped a Dem seat in the US congress to GOP, and increased its near veto proof majority in both the state house & senate.
Emery is delirious. He literally believes that his hallucinations are real.
Emery also does not seem to understand that the GOP gained control of the US house, and in terms of popular vote, won 53%-47% over the dems. The GOP gained US house seats in both the 2020 & 2022 elections.
Emery’s comment could not have been more wrong about the facts.

  9. “Many economists expect the US to tip into a recession later this year” ~ WSJ

No matter how hard they try, they can’t talk the economy into a recession.

  10. Emery
At what point in your mother’s pregnancy with you would it have become unacceptable for her to abort you?

  11. Official prediction: Whatever Democrat runs for prez in 2024 will not run with the slogan “Are you better off than you were four years Ago?”
Whatever Republican runs for prez in 2024 WILL run with the slogan “Are you better off than you were four years Ago?”
    “3 years ago today
    gas was $2 a gallon
    Eggs were $1 a dozen
    Mortgage rates were 3%
    Inflation was less than 1%
We had full employment, economic growth, and World Peace
    What happened?”

First estimates always lie, its feel good propaganda which is why e loves it so

  14. I had to move from St Paul three years ago after 29 years.

As I reach retirement I think I need to leave MN after 57 years.

I won’t pull the wagon for the DFL.

Feeling the same way; not much keeping us here anymore.

  16. So we have a new twitter files drop from MTaibi: https://twitter.com/mtaibbi/status/1619029772977455105

Long story short: A bunch of certified #nevertrumpers, MSNBC journo-activists, and Hillary! supporters formed an NGO called “The Alliance for Securing Democracy.” The ASD created a tool called “Hamilton” that was supposed to identify social media accounts (including Twitter) controlled by foreign governments & used to spout propaganda.
The ASD then pushed Hamilton’s “findings” to various media outlets as proof that social media companies needed to remove these accounts.
Problem was Twitter had its own tools that did the same thing and their tools said “nope, these are just accounts controlled by American conservative groups.”
Quotable quote from Twitter’s Yoel Roth: “Virtually any conclusion drawn from it will take conversations in conservative circles on Twitter and accuse them of being Russian.”
Twitter reverse-engineered Hamilton’s tech & discovered that it was targeting accounts that were pro-Trump, not Russia created. But they refused to release the Hamilton list of so-called “Russian bot accounts” because the people at ASD had strong political connections to the Democrat party.
You will be completely unsurprised to find out that the “Hamilton Project” was headed by former FBI counter intelligence officer & current MSNBC contributor Clint Watts.

  17. The TwitR files go into the same memory hole as Project Veritas’ release of a recording of a Pfizer R&D Director on a GrindR date explaining that Pfizer is mutating the Covid virus so they can have a vaccine ready to go when they release it. “It’s a cash cow”

Tucker devoted 10 minutes to the story, but not one bullshit news outfit has given it a second of air time; not ever Fox. Google was gaslighting it by refusing search results.

The best thing that has happened so far is, Dr. Robert Malone, who has been through the trials of the damned, is suddenly the go-to guy.
