The Low Bar

I hope you all had a happy, blessed, gratitude-heavy Thanksgiving.

I hope you did not spend the day alone in a New York apartment, sitting on your toilet, hunched over your smartphone, obsessively typing bilge out onto social media.

Like this guy seemed to:

Only to be reminded that graywashing American history is how authoritarianism thrives.

  1. Is there a known or measurable point in the constant and apparently endless stream of slams against white people after which white people are permitted to “fight back”?

  2. I spent the day doing math and CAD.

Got the estimate from the utility of my share of the cost of dragging a cable 1/4 mile from the nearest pole to my compound HQ.

It’s enough to seriously consider going off grid, so I’ve been designing a solar system, which required the use of Thevenin’s Theorem which I haven’t used for 25 years (ngl, I had to look it up to remember it).

    Anyway, I digress…
….as I was working through the problem, it suddenly occurred to me that, hey, Thevenin’s Theorem has value as a tool for living a happy, healthy, wholesome life!

Melt all the insanity and degeneracy, and those propagating it into one, easy to deal with, greasy blob.

    Gonna work that out tomorrow.

  3. Robert Reich? Hasn’t he been front and center of every new thing to destroy Western civilization to come along for the past 50 years?

Better check that “Early Life” tab, brb….

    Schwoops!

  4. Reich is a hack, just phoning it in to the elites at this point.
Going off grid is more complicated than most people think, Blade, with respect to electrical power. Inductive loads will really stress your local system. Centrally distributed & managed electrical power brings incredible efficiency, and you’ve given that up. Disconnecting yourself from that power has costs. Anything with an motor costs you x 2 in terms of advertised watts at least.

  6. Poor little Robert “Third” Reich, just a has been like Dan Blather, trying to become relevant by tweeting. On second thought, Reich is a never was, just a smug professor who never has had a private sector job.

    Putz.

  7. UMMP, I’m designing a system, based on total possible load; welder, machine tools and everything in the house, with up to 50% connected at any given time, and calculating necessary KW/hr based on that.

I have some wiggle room here, since my first study revealed I’d need a 13KW/hr system, which comes in >10% cheaper than hooking up to the utility, if I do the install myself.

I’d back it up with a propane powered generator (mostly for the security system and refrigeration).

  8. Watch your power factor, Blade. I wish you luck. But other than last mile connectivity & the personal value given to being more self-sufficient, electrical power from a central provider is more efficient than making your own juice.
On the Big Island, people who lived off the grid were proud to say they were self-sufficient, but an awful lot of them switched to HELCO power as soon as it became available.

  9. Yup. I know the relationship between reactive and active power is linear. Took it into account.

The only motor (inductive) load that is constant is my well pump.

My welder is also inductive as are my mill/drill and lathe. Those are elective; I can use them during peak charge times.

From what I’ve read, most people that regret going off grid underestimated their connected loads, and built insufficient systems.

    I’m trying to avoid that.

  10. I am not sure that there is a single human being who cares what Reich thinks about anything.

  11. Reich has >1.5m followers on Twitr. He’s also a prolific propagandist on reprobate media sites like Media Matters (A Soros©️ Production).

Its probably true that the majority of his audience are aging, addled brain nincompoops (like our friend, Bikebubble), but he’s got an audience nonetheless
He spends his days poisoning the well of Western civilization in every way he can.

  12. “Brain addled” is shown, in my mind, by parroting Russian propaganda. Conservatives have known that’s a fool’s errand since the 1960s.

  13. bike;
Don’t forget Buttrock Obumbler’s comments during his debate with Romney, when he indicated that Russia was still America’s greatest threat. The black messiah laughed, along with his knuckle dragging, ass kissing sycophants in the “audience”, mocking Romney with his ignorant reply; “1984 called and they want their foreign policy back!”

  14. “Conservatives have known that’s a fool’s errand since the 1960s.”

And like everything else “‘Conservatives’ have known since the 1960’s” that sure knowledge has led us off the cliff in the current decade.

    Pfffft.

  15. Conservatives have known “since the 1960s” that sure knowledge has led us off the cliff in the decade 2012-2022?

Pretty neat trick, Dullee. If you’re trying to prove you’re a fool, great job. Time for you to go on your errands. Putin Delenda Est!

  16. “Reich is a hack, just phoning it in to the elites at this point.” ~ Woolly

Elites on the Left believe they have universal values and are angry their base doesn’t buy it. Elites on the Right do what aristocracies have always done — keep the base busy with some kind of moral idea and they can take what they want.

  17. Fair enough, Mr. Bubble. “Conservatives” started leading us off the cliff for 2-3 decades.

Now, maybe you see what’s been going on as sound footing, Bikebubble. I’d love to hear you educate us on that.

  18. Richard Nixon was the last Conservative President. When Reagan granted 2 million 75 IQ Guatamexidorians I was telling my friends “That is the ned of California”, and I was right.

Looks like I was smarter at 22 than you are at 72, Mr. Bubble. #Sad

  19. That sure was the “ned” of California, Swiftee.

Again, pro tip; if you’re going to try to insult peoples’ intelligence, learn to spell.

  20. Everyone else knows a typo when they see one, Mr. Bubble.

Looks like everyone is still smarter than you, at 72.

    #sad

  21. I’ve been wondering why Bikebubble isn’t sporting a Askov Brigade flag avatar. All the other 80IQ cud chewers are on board already.

I just realized he probably doesn’t know how to do that. #sad

  22. The damage a dictator can inflict on their own country is incredible. All of this to satisfy one megalomaniac’s delusions of historical grandeur. What a disaster.

The famous ‘efficiency’ of autocratic regimes: the ability to push through terrible decisions very quickly and virtually unopposed with terrible consequences. Long live our forever messy and chaotic democratic politics.
