  1. Was there something happening or expected to happen? Or is this to be standard practice?

PS look at those maskies… jeebuz, the metro area is like another country. A really awful country.

  2. You may or may not be aware of this, but the BPD has a fully staffed “office”, complete with three holding cells, at the MOA. My cousin, a retired BPD officer, would work a couple of weekends per month there. MOA pays the tab for both the facility and for the overtime that the officers might qualify for. According to my cousin, working there was voluntary, but they never seemed to have problems getting volunteers. Depending on the time of year, there are anywhere from seven during the week, to as many as twelve officers on duty. In addition, there are several patrol cars that rotate around the grounds at all times when the Mall is open. On a side note, there is a brand new fire station about three blocks from the Mall, which was paid by the profits from the bonds the City of Bloomington issued when the mall was built.

  3. Easy, quick, free trip from the ‘hood to the MOA, vulnerable suburbanites not watching their backs at the ready. What could possibly have gone wrong?

First it was the Homerdome, then it was the MOA, then it was the Death Train to rescue the MOA, then it was Block E to rescue downtown shopping (failing spectacularly of course), then another Death Train, then new stadia for the ViQueens and Twinkies and Goofers, then more Death Trains…..lots of money, blood, sweat, and tears because nobody in the Met Council or legislature knew that you could rebuild a stadium in stages and use the same site.

  4. Go to any crowded place in any 3rd world shit hole, and you’ll see police with automatic weapons. They need to because they have reached peak Vibrancy(tm)

  5. Remember Minneapolis mayoral candidate and former DFL Chair Mark Andrew having his phone stolen at the MOA, and then being jumped and beaten with rods by two female accomplices about 10 years ago? He needed stitches – but in an ending right out of A Clockwork Orange, Andrew helped one of his attackers get into a diversion and mentoring program, where she received a certificate and a job.

I’m not sure which attacker it was, but googling the older one’s name doesn’t turn up anything beyond the attack. The other girl was a juvenile – of whom Andrew said at the time, “The juvenile may be too far gone. She was extremely violent. I believe she was trying to kill me, and her actions supported her statement. She was swinging as hard as she could.”

  6. The walls in shopping malls are paper thin. Wouldn’t want to be around when that guy starts unloading a combat arm at the Mall of America.

  7. can somebody positively identify that weapon

in third world shitholes the cops carry machine guns but they are only 9mm

that looks like an assault rifle with a scope what the hell does he plan to shoot at

  8. That’s an unmagnified red dot optic, bigman.

If the BPD were culturally sensitive, they would issue AK-47 carbines to make the Sammies feel like they were back home, shopping in the Bakara market.

  9. As a general rule, if you spot a guy carrying a machine gun, you should probably be somewhere else.

  10. Good point on the walls at malls. You’re generally talking, until the center/back hallways of the buildings, steel studs and 5/8″ sheetrock if I remember right. Definite place for a less penetrating ammunition and not .223.
