Asking Lightning To Strike Twice

10 years ago, when economic times were fairly good (compared to 2008, anyway) and Barack Obama was on the ticket, the DFL went long on same-sex marriage, counting on it (and the big uptick it advantage) to blunt whatever remaining impact the tea party insurgency had had two years earlier.

That year, social issues (and a presidential race) led the DFL to a sweep, taken control of both chambers of the legislature for two years.

The DFL seems to be counting on the same thing happening again:

The Governor, as well as Mr. Walz, have been leading in exceptionally hard on abortion (as well as a certain amount of whistling past the graveyard on the economy).

And they are already pouring money into TV ads.

Those internal polls must be really, really bad.

  1. Jensen and Birk running on inflation and gas prices is a joke. The governor of Minnesota can do nothing on those issues. They think abortion isn’t going to be an issue. Haven’t they talked to any suburban women. The one issue that could gain them some traction is crime but on that issue they lose all credibility when they won’t admit the election was fair and Trump instigated Jan 6. You can’t be against crime in Minnesota and for crime at the Capitol.

Level headed Minnesotans arent going to give as much money to a “doctor” who is still touting Ivermectin or to a running mate stuck in the 50’s.

  2. ^^Hey, Doktor Emery, which med school did you go to lol.

  3. A moderate Republican could easily defeat Walz. They would just have to keep an eye on the budget and stay out of the bedroom. But any such a candidate is disregarded as a RINO and less acceptable than a quack MD.

If you ever wonder why Republicans have a difficult time getting elected to state offices in MN, the current Governor race is exhibit A.

Walz’s margin of victory, shown in the candidate’s fundraising dollars.

  4. Once again, Emery, you show your ignorance on so many things.

First, tax paying residents of Minnesota, have been overtaxed for years under DemoCommie leadership. When it was determined that the state had over a billion dollar surplus, Governor Pussy decides that we only deserve “crumbs” of $1,500 back, when it should have been everything they paid in. Of course, we all know that Education Minnesota and other corrupt supporters, have to be repaid, first.

He also could have either repealed or temporarily suspended the state gas tax and/or sales tax.

So, stick your worthless statement that “they couldn’t do anything about inflation or gas prices” up your fat ass!

Now, please share the results of your poll that at least 20,000 suburban women, are fretting over abortion, not the one from some left wing propaganda rag that you use for talking points.

  5. Hey Emery,
Accusing a doctor of being a quack without hard proof, can get you sued. If you’re squeaking that crap on this forum, it’s a sure bet that you’re doing it other places, too.

  6. Jensen had some interesting positions to offer but those were often negated by his insistence on disproven theories.

Matt Birk opening his mouth pretty much sunk the Jensen/Birk ticket.

It would be nice if the GOP could offer up one educated candidate that I could vote for. Note: Education is not the same as schooling.

Once more voters get to know Jensen he will drop in the polls. As many people never heard of him as are voting for him. That is not a good harbinger for him.

  7. Remember lads, rAT Emery went all in on MeMaw Clinton. 🤣 His political insights are more laughable than his market tips. 🤡

I do think the midterms will be a bellwether for Minnesota’s future, though. If Walz can fuck things up as bad in Minnesota as he has, in a year the leader of his party has absolutely cratered the US and still get re-elected, y’all are living in a certified degenerate, shithole state.

Best advised to get used to that reality.

  8. Sure is a good thing that the little weasel is here to hand out – for free no less! – all this electoral and campaigning advice.

  9. Emery thinks that in a pandemic, the best thing to do is ignore the doctor & get your medical advice from a retired football coach and national guard non-com.

  10. Yea, right, Emery. Better to have an insecure, economically illiterate gym teacher, that has been brainwashed by his union benefactors, used voodoo science tables to lie to the public to shut down the state and a Native American (they don’t exist, by the way. The tribes migrated to North America from Asia) that is also economically illiterate that took gubmint handouts all her life than a real Doctor and a Harvard educated financial planner.

By the way, I know several suburban women, a few of them Democrats, that understand they lost NOTHING with the overturned Roe v Wade farce. They realize that RBG even said the law was not sustainable. Of course, you want to push memes and outright lies.

  11. Emery doesn’t seem to have noticed that no one in this thread has predicted a Jensen victory, while he has predicted a Walz victory (his 12:47). Just like he predicted a Hillary landslide over Trump, that the Brexit vote would fail, and of course Emery went all in on the “Russian collusion” hoax.
So Emery, we know, is well acquainted with the taste of crow.
I have no idea who will win the MN governor’s race, and neither does Emery. If Jensen was 20 points ahead in the poll, I still wouldn’t call it because it is a long time until November. This is called “wisdom.”
Didn’t some poet write about the tragedy of those who grow old without acquiring wisdom?
Anyhow, I don’t live in MN. The mud ducks can do as they please, God help them.
It is interesting that MN is a political standout in the Midwest. It is far more liberal than the Dakotas and Iowa, and even “Forward” Wisconsin. The “why” of that is more interesting, to me, than whether Jensen or Walz wins in November. Walz was able to run as a moderate in 2018. He can’t do that anymore.

  12. Not crow, rAT. you’ll eat a bag of dicks, without complaint as usual. But you like that. It’s what you do.

  13. Since Walz and Daughter of Eire Margaret Flanagan are the topic I suppose I can cross post this comment I made on this thread a few days ago: http://www.shotinthedark.info/wp/?p=82685#comments

    The smoking gun:
    https://www.mprnews.org/story/2020/04/10/what-the-states-model-tells-us-about-minnesotas-covid19-response
The model Walz chose to believe — and backed by Minnesota’s public health “experts” predicted that even with the lockdown, their would be 22.000 covid deaths by August 1, 2020.
In fact there were less than 2,000.
    Best quote from the modelers?
“On Friday, Gildemeister said he had concerns that models that let anyone use them might be ‘irresponsible’ because ‘it allows folks to make assumptions that aren’t very realistic ones.’”

  15. UMMP:
Yup! We can never count out the corrupt DemoCommie party stuffing ballot boxes or changing ballots. After Steve Simon’s illegal activities last cycle and his statement that “some fraud happens in every election”, was both a confession and a warning.
In fact, I drove past the HQ of the Communist Party of MN on Plato Ave and the parking lot had more cars in it than I have seen in over two years.

  16. As pro-life and anti-abortion as I am, I have to admit that the DFL is correct to note that “Dobbs is regrettable” is polling well. The main thing I’d say is wrong with the DFL messaging is that it’s coming across (to me at least) as quite extreme.
