The New Brown Face/s Of White Supremacy

Remember when Democrats giddily predicted Texas would inevitably turn blue?

Someone didn’t get the memo.

Republican Mayra Flores won the special election in TX34 – along the Rio Grande, the second most Latino district in the country – last night. Born in Mexico, daughter of migrant workers, wife of a border patrol agent, she ran on a red carne asada platform; secure the border, protect the economy, God Guns and Guts.

Ed Morrissey notes the caveats:

Special elections have very unique and (usually) non-predictive turnout models. TX-34 is a D+5 district, so it’s never been entirely out of reach for Republicans. Flores won in part by running a smart campaign but also by building a financial and media-buy edge over her opponent. Flores will have to run again in less than five months to keep the seat, and she may have trouble getting a lock on the same resources when the GOP is fighting for 435 seats and not just one.

All that aside? For the moment, it doesn’t appear that Trump’s velocity among Latinos has dissipated – nor does it appear to be strictly tied to Trump, whom she references on her website, but doesn’t lindell it.

Watch for MSNBC and The View to call her and her voters the New Brown Faces of White Supremacy. Mark my words.

Dear GOP: Don’t screw this up.

  1. I read the NYT and WSJ, watch CNN and Fox News…. The truth is somewhere in the middle…
The middle says this administration is an absolute dumpster fire of incompetence.

  2. ^ Incompetence? The Bidens are doing exactly what they promised they would do. This is what you voted for. Enjoy!

Only in the Republican world is that news. There are plenty of congressional people with Hispanic ancestry.

  4. Ha! Typical DemoCommie response, Emery.
Ms. Flores is the first Mexican born woman to win a seat in the house. Being the real racists that you left wing losers are, don’t look for your propaganda masters to highlight this. Just like the first openly gay cabinet member, Richard Grenell, she won’t count because she’s not a bottom feeding Dem.

  5. Oh, and PS to my last. Elon Musk revealed that he voted for her, so I suspect the Ms. Flores and other Republican candidates may have a benefactor. Suck it, Emery!

  6. “Only in the Republican world is that news. There are plenty of congressional people with Hispanic ancestry.”

    That’s Latinx, you h8tr.

  7. Apparently Emery has never heard of the Congressional Hispanic Conference:
The Congressional Hispanic Conference (CHC) is a Republican sponsored caucus in the United States Congress. Currently with eleven members, the CHC was formed in 2003, with the stated goal of promoting policy outcomes of importance to Americans of Hispanic or Lusitanic descent.[1] These priorities included support of the following: President George W. Bush and American troops in the war against terrorism; the Free Trade Agreement of the Americas (FTAA); tax relief to families and the over two million Hispanic- and Lusitanic-owned small businesses; support for faith based initiatives; and, educational choice for all. The impetus behind the Conference’s creation was the debate surrounding the nomination of conservative lawyer Miguel Estrada to the DC Circuit Court of Appeals and ideological differences in the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, which was predominantly populated by Democratic members of Congress.[2][3]

More ignorance on display than usual today from the hamster troll.

  8. “The Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) is an organization of 38 Democratic members of the United States Congress of Hispanic and Latino descent.

As of 2021, the CHC is composed entirely of Democrats, although at its founding it was a bipartisan organization. The Republican members left in the late 1990s over policy differences and, in 2003, formed their own group, the Congressional Hispanic Conference.”

Tell us woolly—how many GOP members in your caucus ….

  9. Brilliant. The troll will now take on all comers about who and what is part of a meaningless group or two in Congress. And what it means. To distract from the news of the first Mexican-born Republican woman elected to Congress.

  10. boss, speaking of Musk:

“I Welcome Support From African-Americans”: Ron DeSantis Trolls Dems To High Heaven With Reference To Elon Musk

  11. Emery just wants to distract you from his 11:49 FAIL.
My response to the hamster troll says exactly how many members of the Congressional Hispanic conference there are, he didn’t read it.
So many fails in one day, this may be a record. He’s just kind of randomly hitting the keyboard now.

  12. I don’t know why anyone, D or R, would be surprised at the Hispanic voters turning to the GOP. I knew quite a few people who were supposedly Hispanic, most of them technicians, mechanics, chefs, aka “semi-professional” blue collar occupations. None of them had accents, most were from California or TX, a few from Hawaii. Some of them looked Hispanic, some didn’t. They had working class values. Never talked politics much with them, but I don’t think that many made a habit of voting D. What they wanted was good economic times for working people.
I suspect that the make up of the Hispanic political demographic changes when you enter the world of the academy, law, and politics. It may be that the people high in the ranks of the D party are only exposed to Hispanics that are academics or non-English speaking illegal aliens.
    They should get out more.

  13. Oooh, looks like I touched a nerve there, son!
    Think before typing next time.
For those of you trying to follow along, at 11:49 AM Emery posted a failed snark comment: MBerg wrote: “Republican Mayra Flores won the special election in TX34 – along the Rio Grande, the second most Latino district in the country – last night.”
Only in the Republican world is that news. There are plenty of congressional people with Hispanic ancestry.
implying that the GOP doesn’t understand that sometimes Hispanics win congressional seats.
This is an absurd statement. The GOP is actively recruiting Hispanics to run for office and so far has had moderate success. So at 12:34 I responded with the topic paragraph of the Wikipedia article on the Republican-created Hispanic Congressional Conference, which, the wiki article notes, has eleven members.
Then at 1:45 Emery crapped another failed comment, asking me how many members were in the GOP Hispanic Congressional Conference, although the information was in the very comment he criticized.
Not running through all the gears today, is he? But why should today be any different from any other day?

  14. jpa;
I heard that quote earlier today. Comedy gold! DeSantis doesn’t back down when the media jackals ask stupid questions.

  15. “To distract from the news of the first Mexican-born Republican woman elected to Congress.”

Mexicans in Congress? And a woman to boot? Whooo hoooo! Yaaaaaay! #Winning 🎈🎈🎉✨✨😍
