Who’s Not There?

So – did Mayor Frey promised to push reform of “no knock raids”.

And to hear him discuss it, you’d think he’d made progress:

When you’ve got Channel 4 actually criticizing DFLers’ policies, you know…

…that there’s a crazier DFLer in the wings, who has given the Big Four TV staitons, the Strib and MPR permission to do so.

If this is a ban, I’d hate to see what a no-knock offensive looks like:

It’s amazing how that creeps up on you…

…as it were.

  1. This boils down to the time worn pattern; Patricians vs Commoners.

The political courtiers, who service the Patricians, condemn the “cop culture” as though it is solely responsible for any adverse incidents in serving no-knock warrants. This is wholly wrong and dishonest. There are three separate agencies involved in granting any no-knock warrant
    1) the police, (blue collar, commoners)
    2) the City or County Attorney’s Office, (patricians)
    3) the Judiciary.(patricians)
The police who will serve the warrant are also the gatherers of the facts and must collect the information that provides the basis of exigent circumstances that justify the no-knock warrant.
The City/County Attorney’s office isn’t just a stenography service for the police they also must review and advise the police regarding legal issues and risks the warrant request presents. That Legal Counsel has the authority to put the brakes on the request or deny it altogether, they are in fact an equal partner with the police and should bear equal responsibility.
Likewise the Judge who signs the warrant is every bit as responsible as the police or the Attorneys should something go wrong. This is particularly true because the judge is the final arbiter of the exigent circumstances argument. Given the proven history over the last 50 years of the unintended lethal results of no-knock warrants you would hope the judge would err on the side of caution.
The question then is will the Judge who signed the warrant for Amir Locke’s death be held responsible, facing discipline, impeachment, and possibly prosecution?
Will the Attorney’s Office be called to account likewise risking discipline, termination, and prosecution?
Clearly the police officer will be called to account, why shouldn’t the judge and prosecutors?
In the past the Political Courtiers demanded a Civilian Review Board, If that Review board could review and recommend actions to take for all three agencies, the judge, the prosecutors, the police it would be far more effective at providing transparency, and Justice . A review board that lets the prosecutors, and judges off the hook is not, and will not, ever fully address the problems facing Mpls.

As long as the Patricians escape responsibility nothing will change, for proof note that the Patricians have run the city of Mpls for the last 50 years and yet to hear them tell it Institutional Racism™ is the top problem in the city.

  2. Last night I saw upon the stair
A little man who wasn’t there
    He wasn’t there again today
Oh, how I wish he’d go away

Pig, when where the judges and prosecutors EVER held accountable for wrongful and/or clearly malicious prosecution? For willfully and maliciously withholding evidence? For letting people out without bail to go and commit heinous crimes including murder?

Laws are for little people. These motherfuckers are above the LAW! Fine… take away qualified immunity from police commoners, but you will still have these patrician motherfuckers breaking the laws they have sworn to uphold… at will, at their own discretion, without any, as in zero, accountability and repercussions. Two Americas™ indeed.

  4. Pig, he would be if he were a card-carrying, untijab, antimask rethuglican. But no… he was the judge who presided in St. Floyd trial. This Pig (judge Cahill, not you) should have been tarred and feathered for that travesty and usurpation of truth and yet, victims of judicial system keep piling on. Motherfuckers all!

    Exactly.
