Feeling Strangely Scientific

I caught this the other day.

So let me get this straight: a virus transmitted almost exclusively by being expectorated into the air by infected people coughing, is spread less by people who aren’t coughing as much?

What manner of sorcery is this?

Yet again, science seems to be bearing out my knee-jerk assumptions, by the way.

  1. Wait, vaccinated people can show symptoms? They can still spread the disease even after they’ve been vaccinated against it?

Reminds me of the television commercial where the little girl watches Mom pre-wash the dishes before putting them in the dishwasher, then asks, “But what does the dishwasher do?”

If the ‘vaccine’ doesn’t prevent you from getting the disease, and doesn’t prevent you from spreading the disease, what does the ‘vaccine’ do?

If the ‘vaccine’ doesn’t protect me from you or you from me, why do we both need it before we can freely participate in society?

  2. The essence of the linked NY Times article is “You can never be safe from covid.”
Instead, there are degrees of safety. But it will always be possible that no matter what you do, no matter how often you are vaxxed, no matter how many masks you wear, or how much you avoid the company of others, you can still get covid and die.
So it really is like the flu, the NY Times says so.

  3. Science? Did someone say science?

“Rolling Stone forced to issue an ‘update’ after viral hospital Ivermectin story turns out to be false
The Northeastern Hospital System released a statement contradicting the story”

“The story, which originally appeared in Oklahoma’s KFOR-TV news, was widely shared by reporters, including MSNBC anchor Rachel Maddow.”

“Fellow MSNBC left-wing anchor Joy Reid also promoted the story during her show on Friday, repeating McElyea’s claims.

“An emergency in one rural Oklahoma town is being overwhelmed by people overdosing on ivermectin, the horse deworming medication. It’s gotten so bad that gunshot victims, gunshot victims are having to wait to be treated,” she said.

The story was also shared by New York Daily News, Newsweek, The Guardian and Insider.”

If the reprobates are saying it, it’s bullshit. It’s all bullshit.

  4. Oh, forgot the Sciency part:

“On Friday, the liberal magazine published testimony from Dr. Jason McElyea, who told a local news station that hospitals were being overrun from patients overdosing on ivermectin which resulted in other patients waiting for treatment. McElyea claimed the situation was so bad that gunshot victims were being neglected.”

So, are there calls for Dr. McElyea to surrender his license? Oh, hell no…he’s on the right side of the tracks.

  5. It occurred to me, doctor bill, when I was reading about that McElyea fella, that I don’t think we’re getting the whole story. Everything from his appearance to the fact that “he doesn’t work here anymore” got me thinking that he was asked to resign or let go in a way that no one is embarrassed. And that this whole story is mainly him looking for revenge.

  6. Gosh, jdm, if only we had a class of people, specially trained to investigate spurious claims by public figures, and communicate what they had learned.
    Wouldn’t that be fantastic?

  7. nevermind vaxxed people carry a much higher viral load so in fact they are superspreaders that Karens keep telling us about.

  8. The station that broadcast the interview is KFOR, channel 4 in Oklahoma City.
They pride themselves on their news coverage.
This giant, huge, glaring bit of fake news, aka covid misinformation, has been spread far & wide on FB and twitter, and not censored a single time, or asterisked with a “misinformation” note.
These people are truly as dumb as tree stumps.

  9. I am cross posting this from another thread:
Another embarrassing ivermectin fail, this time from the AP:

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — In an article published Aug. 23, 2021, about people taking livestock medicine to try to treat coronavirus, The Associated Press erroneously reported based on information provided by the Mississippi Department of Health that 70% of recent calls to the Mississippi Poison Control Center were from people who had ingested ivermectin to try to treat COVID-19. State Epidemiologist Dr. Paul Byers said Wednesday the number of calls to poison control about ivermectin was about 2%. He said of the calls that were about ivermectin, 70% were by people who had ingested the veterinary version of the medicine.
    https://www.sfgate.com/news/article/Health-Dept-Stop-taking-livestock-medicine-to-16405982.php

Yeah, those rubes in Oklahoma and Mississippi are so dumb they’ll believe anything that confirms their maga biases.

  10. We are being bombarded with disinformation like this 24/7.
    Including from the CDC.

  11. MP, all we can do is push back against these reprobates until the wheels fall off

  12. Funny! In 2015, a Nobel prize was awarded to the science people that discovered the anti-parasitic substances in Ivermectin, the lead of the team was a woman of Japanese descent.

  13. Ivermectin is undergoing several trials that are recognized as valid by the CDC.
One of the problems with the trials, and this has affected the trials for other potential covid treatments, is that the groups studied are small, less than a hundred in the combined combined control and test groups, and the people in these groups are very ill with covid, and as you might expect, have the usual comorbidities of diabetes, hypertension, and obesity.

  14. It’s kind of ironic that the folks who call vaccinated people “sheeple” are the same folks taking a barnyard animal de-wormer.

    One in 5,000
The real chances of a breakthrough infection.

“For the vaccinated, Covid resembles the flu and usually a mild one…. The risks of getting any version of the virus remain small for the vaccinated, and … of getting badly sick remain minuscule…. That risk is so close to zero that the human mind can’t easily process it.”

“If the entire country had received shots at the same rate as the Northeast or California, the current Delta wave would be a small fraction of its current size. Delta is a problem. Vaccine hesitancy is a bigger problem.”
    https://www.nytimes.com/2021/09/07/briefing/risk-breakthrough-infections-delta.html

  15. It’s kind of ironic that the folks who call vaccinated people “sheeple” are the same folks taking a barnyard animal de-wormer

Prove it. And how do we even know that you’re vaccinated?

  16. Oh, and by the way, my case of Kung flu, for I which have proof, was like the flu and a mild one. And I am unvaccinated.

  17. ^ Future generations will not judge you kindly for mocking the oppressed veterinary medicine consumers of America.

  18. Have you been saving that one for me? You clever rascal. I’m glad you didn’t waste it on MP or doctor bill. Thanks!

  19. “April 7, 2020 — An inexpensive drug used to treat parasitic infections killed the coronavirus that causes COVID-19 in less than 48 hours in a laboratory setting, Australian researchers say.

According to a report published online in the journal Antiviral Research, the drug quickly prevented replication of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. The study has been peer-reviewed and accepted for publication”

    2nd study
    =============

“Today, icddr,b has organised a dissemination seminar of a recently concluded clinical trial that evaluated the safety and efficacy of ivermectin in combination with antibiotic doxycycline or ivermectin alone for the treatment of confirmed mild cases of COVID19 in a hospital setting.

The randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial evaluated orally administered ivermectin alone (12mg once daily for 5 days), ivermectin single dose (12mg) in combination with doxycycline (200mg stat doxycycline on day 1 followed by 100mg 12 hourly for next 4 days) compared with placebo among 68 hospitalised patients with COVID-19 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Patient distribution was 22, 23 and 23 in each group respectively. The participating hospitals were Mugda Medical College and Hospital; Kurmitola General Hospital, Dhaka, Bangladesh, and Dhaka Medical College & Hospital, Dhaka.

The study demonstrated that patients in the 5-day ivermectin group were 77% more likely to have early viral clearance on day 14 compared to those who received ivermectin and doxycycline (61%) and placebo (39%). It also showed that on day 3, eighteen percent (18%) of the patients in the group treated with ivermectin alone began to show viral clearance compared to ivermectin plus doxycycline (3%) and placebo (3%), while on day 7 it stood at 50%, 30% and 13% respectively. ”

Big pharma is behind the fake news that leftist idiots have so willingly gulped down. These drugs cost a fraction of what that worthless juice costs.

  20. “CDC warns of a “significant decline” in vaccine effectiveness for some, prompting booster dose decision”

New data being released Wednesday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warns of a “significant decline” in vaccine effectiveness against infection from COVID-19 in nursing home residents, as the highly contagious Delta variant of the virus causes a spike in hospitalizations among mostly unvaccinated Americans.

“Given this body of evidence, we are concerned that the current strong protection against severe infection, hospitalization and death could decrease in the months ahead, especially among those who are at higher risk or who were vaccinated earlier,” CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky said at a briefing Wednesday.

I hear they’re coming out with pumpkin spice booster shots in time for Halloween, and hope to have egg nog & cinnamon spice boosters ready for Christmas.

  21. I know there is probably some karmic payback for enjoying schadenfreude this much, but it is a truly delicious irony that Trump’s Zombie Army, who spent so much energy calling reasonable people “sheep” are now the ones taking a livestock drug.

  22. Invermectin has killed 100% less people than the bug juice. That is a fact.

It has also caused 100% less cases of Myocarditis in healthy young boys. This inflammation causes permanent damage to heart tissue.

‘No Such Thing As Mild Myocarditis!’ Prof. Blasts Gov’t For Pushing COVID Vaccines For Youth

“Why would you want to submit people who are unlikely to be negatively affected by the virus itself with vaccines that have now been proven, in scientific literature, to be associated with health risks?” Dr. Pelech said, as reported by the Western Standard. “Contrary to what a number of people have said, there is no such thing as ‘mild myocarditis.'”

A tenured professor at UBC and a chair for Scientific and Medical Advisory Committee at the Canadian Covid Care Alliance, Dr. Pelech argued that young people are not at risk for contracting COVID but are more exposed to danger when they take the COVID shot because of its side effects.

  23. Leftist scum sacrificing their kids to push their agenda is nothing new. They give their sons puberty blockers, train their daughters to be sluts, mutilate their genitals.

This is just one more disgusting exhibition.

  24. Lol, it’s the “Trumpers aren’t getting vaxxed” lie again. Poor thing, that was last month’s lie you loser.

  25. Attention Quack Cure Junkies

Please read the following very carefully. It contains quite a bit of highly technical information and jargon.

“So, supposing we hit the body with a tremendous — whether it’s ultraviolet or just very powerful light — and I think you said that that hasn’t been checked, but you’re going to test it. And then I said, supposing you brought the light inside the body, which you can do either through the skin or in some other way, and I think you said you’re going to test that, too. It sounds interesting. And then I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it out in a minute. One minute. And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning. Because you see it gets in the lungs, and it does a tremendous number on the lungs. So it would be interesting to check that.” ~ D. Trump, M.D., clinical pathologist

  26. The troll is off on his weird vaccine obsession again.
I wonder if he’s gone long on Pfizer stock.
He really sounds like a guy trying to pump a stock value. Or like a Best Buy car stereo salesman.
“Yeah, this Pioneer 1080XL is the newest model, its gotta 400 watt underseat sub woofer — you got a girlfriend? It’ll get her panties wet, my friend — It has 68 dolbys, and Pioneer had to pass a special law to even make it legal to put this in a car! Here listen to this!”

  27. Evidence is growing that Fauci’s CDC funded the research that led to covid: https://theintercept.com/2021/09/06/new-details-emerge-about-coronavirus-research-at-chinese-lab/
Money quote:”Asked about the grant materials, Robert Kessler, communications manager at EcoHealth Alliance, said, ‘We applied for grants to conduct research. The relevant agencies deemed that to be important research, and thus funded it. So I don’t know that there’s a whole lot to say.'”

  28. And, once again, numb nuts armchair doctor Emery, goes to every left wing site to get his medical data. Further, he jumps on the horse dewormer narrative as his motto.

Of course, his overlords at the CDC are advising all of Biden’s new voters from Afghanistan, to take ivermectin..

    And then there’s this:

    https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34466270/

  29. Emery continues to demonstrate a disinterest in actual debate with verifiable facts and logic, choosing to focus on the statements of the previous president, a man that lives rent-free in his head.

  30. It’s too bad consumers are denied meaningful information to make an informed choice.

Some percent are vaccinated – so what?
Some percent of vaccinated have reactions – so what?
Some percent of the vaccinated have breakthrough cases – so what?
Some percent of the breakthrough cases died – so what?

We are trying to decide whether to get vaccinated. The useful comparison is hospitalizations/deaths among the vaccinated versus hospitalizations/deaths among the unvaccinated IN MY RISK GROUP. That data is never presented in a useful way. Almost as if the people pushing vaccine-vaccine-vaccine didn’t want us to see it because if we had accurate information we might use it to draw a conclusion they don’t want us to draw. And there’s no profit in that.

7 billion people at $20 per dose.

  31. Joe Rogan:
“Bro, do I have to sue CNN? They’re making shit up. They are saying I’m taking horse dewormer. I literally got it from a doctor,” he said about Ivermectin. “And CNN is saying I’m taking horse dewormer. They must know that is a lie.”

“If the internet says it, who cares. But CNN is saying it. Jim Acosta!”

“CNN was saying I am a distributor of misinformation,” he said. “I don’t know what’s going on, man… One of the speculations involves the Emergency Use Authorization for the vaccines. That, in order for there to be an emergency use authorization, there has to be no treatment for a disease. So, because there is this treatment in Ivermectin… there’s a lot of pushback against potential treatments, pretending they don’t really work or they are conspiracy theories.”

“The grand conspiracy is that the pharmaceutical companies are in cahoots to try and make anybody who takes this stuff look crazy,” he said. “But what’s crazy is look how better I got! I got better pretty quick, bitch.”

“Because I wasn’t scared during the entire pandemic, what they would like is that when I did get sick that I was really sick and became really scared and learned my lesson. Instead, it is the worst-case scenario for them. I bounce back about as quick as I can,” Rogan said. “They’re haters. But that’s their life. Imagine spending any time whatsoever wishing that a person felt bad… It doesn’t make people feel worse.”

  32. The anti-factual stand on ivermectin, the pretense that it is only and forever been intended for animals, is disturbing.
From Emery it is to be expected: he says stupid things all the time, especially when he can make some illogical leap to his idol (Donald T) from there.
It’s pretty clear and easy to find:
    https://www.covid19treatmentguidelines.nih.gov/therapies/antiviral-therapy/ivermectin/
Its “not approved by the FDA for the treatment of any viral infection”, but it’s not “a horse medication”.
Emery is an idiot, sure, but is every media outlet full of idiot slackers?

  33. Troy, the answer is a resounding Yes. They are brainless, humorless, uninquisitive slackers that spew propaganda to fill the vacuum in the idiot trollbot brains.

  34. A ‘reporter’ is a person who shows up somewhere, sees what’s happening, and tells me about it. The woman on TV standing in front of the burning building is a reporter. The hometown newspaper owner snapping photos at the football game is a reporter.

People who scan the AP wire, read press releases or review the internet for stories, are not reporters, they are gossips. They repeat what somebody else said without any idea if the underlying claim is true or false because it doesn’t really matter. What matters is the scoup.

  35. If The Intercept story is right, well, when Fauci learned about a novel corona virus originating in China in Dec. 2019 that could jump from human to human, well, he had to know where it came from.
Fauci is a son of a bitch. His poor judgment killed tens of millions of people and cost the world economy trillions of dollars, and plunged hundreds of millions into poverty.
