Surprise

A federal judge rules the federal government has no power to order a nation-wide moratorium on evictions.  State governments can do it, but not the federal government.  That’s a refreshing change.

Did I mention the judge is a Trump nominee?  The winning continues long after The President has left the Oval Office.

Joe Doakes

Which, as a Trump skeptic, was always my best-case result.

  1. You’ll see a lot of these emergency declarations thrown out by the courts in the next few years.
There are still a few judges out there who believe in constitutional order.

  2. Sure, that comes not only after the cows left the barn, but after they were turned into hamburger as well.

I like how the lefties do it better. Their rulings come before the ink has dried on the orders.

  3. Walz’s January 7th letter to MN legislators, demanding that they pass all of his decrees into law before he will relinquish emergency powers is a blatant declaration that he has usurped the constitutional role of the MN legislature.
I am sure the MN GOP will get around to suing Walz, or at least censuring him, no later than election day 2022.

  4. MO, I pray that we’re done with “Timmy the Terrible” come the next election. I’m not so sure the MN GOP has either the spine or gonads to constrain him before that time.

  5. A year ago today, the former president said anybody who wanted a covid test could get a test. This was false, as health officials later had to concede. He likened the CDC tests’ quality to his extortionate phone call with the president of Ukraine, for which he had been impeached.

“Anybody that needs a test gets a test…. the tests are all perfect like the letter was perfect. The transcription was perfect. Right? This was not as perfect as that but pretty good.” ~ former impeached president

  6. Well, Emery, it’s nice that you seem to have tried to be on-topic, but it’s a bit of a struggle, eh?
Maybe you should limit your efforts to posts that don’t mention the former president, just to make things easier for you?
    Well, better luck next time!

  7. Over 520,000 dead American citizens can attest to the fact that the arc of this virus is mild and people recover quickly as SiTD and it’s commenters have frequently claimed.

  8. They’re dead. They can’t attest to anything.

And most of those people they didn’t die OF Covid, they died DURING the Covid pandemic during which ALL deaths from respiratory distress are counted as Covid (to get the extra 20% funding from the CARES Act) including pneumonia, influenza and emphysema, which we know because the reported death numbers for those other illness are a fraction of what they should be.

Repeating lies only works with naive people, E-boy. Doesn’t work here.

  9. Good point! This is Mitch Berg’s Fun House.
Where “Alternative Facts” — Instapundit. Gateway Pundit and Breitbart are to be considered statements of fact.

  10. Now that we are ending our first year of rule-by-decree, let us remember that the purpose of the first emergency decree in MN was not to reduce the number of deaths. Walz explicitly said that the number of covid cases would not be lessened by his “shelter in place” decree. The idea was to flatten the curve & keep hospitals from being overwhelmed.
“A shelter-in-place simply moves the date out. It doesn’t do anything in terms of reducing the infection rate. Unless we have either a vaccine or therapeutics or increased ICU capacity, you’re going to have the same results, just at a later time.”
    _Walz, March 29, 2020.
If you really want to get your blood boiling, read this Mankato newspaper article from last March. Millions of Minnesotans infected, 70,000 dead by July of 2020.

Tar & feathers are too good for Walz and the fraudulent “health experts” who stripped Minnesotans of their constitutional rights based on “science” that they made up as they went along.

  11. “We will have tremendous rallies and we’re doing very well and we’ve done a fantastic job with respect to that subject on the virus. I’m not concerned at all. We’ve done a great job with it.” ~ 1 year ago today — former president

I believe that was the first time he spoke the truth. He wasn’t concerned at all and it showed, still showing.

  12. Totally OT, but a great example of Emery’s TDS!
Carry on, sir! Please tell us again how much you hate Donald Trump!

  13. He should really start his own blog, right?
I wonder what the daily topic would be … ha!
