Brian Stelter Goes Full-Bore Plath

CNN journalist info-tainer Brian Stelter – who is employed, and has at least six-to-seven figure income – is feeling a little down about the pandemic:

Never go full-bore Plath.

  1. Mr Stelter has been taking his Suffer-In-Place™ obligations far too seriously, sitting in his darkened room listening to Joan Osborne’s “What If God Were One Of Us” and reading Walt Whitman’s The Song Of Myself” particularly
“I am the man, I suffered, I was there.
Agonies are one of my changes of garments,
I do not ask the wounded person how he feels,
I myself become the wounded person,
    …”

    although Lawrence Ferlingetti’s
    “I was,the man, I was there,
    I suffered, somewhat…”

    is much more appropriate

  2. Only slightly off topic (lamestream mediots):

Headline: “Kentucky sees largest spike in deaths after protests break out.” Only problem is, the spike was Sunday, the protests were Sunday. Oops.

We are being told by dems and mediots (birm) to shut up and stay home, and sometimes an arrest or two goes with it. Facebook is taking down posts organizing protests, saying it is misinformation. The mediots are saying this is all about race, and Repubs wanting black and brown people to die. And calling the protestors terrorists. This is starting to get scary.

  3. kinlaw – I think it’s actually a positive sign. They’re desperate to continue the lockdown in hopes of punishing Trump, but people are onto the scam and sick of it.

I used to have an old tomcat. He’d sit by the door and meow, but when I opened it, he wouldn’t go out. So I’d shut the door and he’d meow until I opened it again. He’d give me this look that said:

“I don’t want to GO out, I want to be ABLE to go out, if I want to go out. Which I don’t. But I might. So just leave the door open, okay?”

Thanks exactly how I feel about the shut-down order. And I think a lot of other people are getting there, too. This thing will either turn into martial law with National Guard troops shooting at citizens, or it will wither and die as people simply ignore it and get on with life. I’m betting on the latter.

  4. If Stelter had really gone full-bore Plath, he would have written something like:

    Not God but a swastika
So black no sky could squeak through.
    Every woman adores a Fascist,
The boot in the face, the brute
Brute heart of a brute like you.

    Never go full-bore Plath.

  5. I cried when I read this. In fact, I continue to cry, perhaps I will never stop crying.

I really don’t know what will end my crying jag, but if you all would like to help, please send “Lawyers, Guns and Money”.

  6. Never go full-bore Plath.

I don’t generally wish self-harm on someone, but in his case we could at least debate the merits of his going full-bore Plath.
