Yes, this is the classic “cognitive error” aspect of TDS. Reason tells you one thing (ventilators are no silver bullet against death from covid-19, while hydroxychloroquine has been an effective treatment for covid-19), but “orange man bad” demands that ventilators must be required to save the lives of covid-19 sufferers (because Trump can’t produce them over night), and hydroxychloroquine must not work against covid-19.
So you ignore reality and dive ever deeper into your cognitive error.
