But If The Background Check Were Only More Mandatory…

After the shooting in Dayton, Ohio, Democrats repeated demands for universal background checks.
The Dayton shooter didn’t buy his gun, he had a friend buy it for him.  It was a straw purchase, which has long been illegal under state and federal law.
Joe Doakes

And I’m going to guess the straw purchase happened in a jurisdiction where neither the federal nor state prosecutors have shown there to be any consequences for straw purchases in a long, long time.

  1. If straw purchases are made like hand-on-hips-with-a-serious-face illegal instead of merely illegal, that should solve that, yes?

  2. I have a friend who is a retired Navy Master Chief. He has been working as an instructor at a firing range. He collects firearms and has an extensive collection which he keeps locked in a safe at his residence. His favorite is a .50 cal Desert Eagle. He is a responsible gun owner and knows how to properly handle as well as secure these weapons. Master Chief is now in his sixties. His son, who is about thirty will inherit these guns someday. His son, who is an alcoholic has shoved his girlfriend down a flight of stairs, breaking some bones, (she lied to cover for him), been fired from several jobs for attendance, has had stitches after breaking a beer bottle over his own head, and at least three DUI arrests. He is a good kid though, (says his Dad), he just drinks too much sometimes.

  3. ^Emery… so is the son bared from possession now? Cuz that will be the case when he inherits.

  4. So, because of this one case, we are going to create a nationwide overthrow of the laws of inheritance and require that one, singular type of bequest must not be honored unless government bureaucrats approve? . When will liberals learn that reality does not conform to their delusional Utopian vision?

  5. A majority of Liberals, using their mad psychic skilz, have determined that innocent-because-never-proven-guilty son will not sell Dad’s inherited weapons to obtain money for booze, but instead will use the weapons to commit heinous crimes. Therefore . . . .

Wait – I saw this movie. Tom Cruise, right?

I can’t wait to apply the same standards to other groups. MS-13 gang members. Homosexual Boy Scout troop leaders. Gay priests. Black youth in troubled neighborhoods.

Well, lefties love to manage to the exception, especially if it costs millions of taxpayer dollars. Just ask the MAC there in the Cities for when they renamed the airport terminals…
