Yaaaawwwwn. Whatever.
But hearing that during WWII Kerkorian flew one of the coolest airplanes ever?
Now that is interesting!

That flying matchstick? Here’s my entry for coolest plane : http://www.wrightools.com/hughes/pictures/pl1.jpg
It’s much more shiny than the Mosquito, more phallic, and I bet it’s noisier, too.

I said one of the coolest.
And having had a Skeeter fly overhead, I’m hear to tell ya – two Merlins at speed are plenty noisy.

To this lad, the Mosquito was, indeed, the coolest plane ever built! My Uncle Bob flew Mosquitos during WWII, and for a brief but memorable period of my life, I became the world’s foremost eleven-year-old expert on them. No thanks to my uncle, of course… he was from the eastern atlantic division of the greatest generation, and they never talked much about the war, so what knowledge I had came from as many books as were printed on the subject. I’ve forgotten so much of what I knew, but I do remember she was made of balsa wood, and the last wooden plane in commission in any fleet.
As far as the phallic symbolism goes, I guess I became enamoured far to early to give it any thought… Come to think of it, Terry… that’s a little, um…uh, queer!
