  1. Y’all need to take a deep breath. Remember who we’re dealing with. Trump and Sarah Huk said the reprobates lied in their account, and I’ll take their word for now.

FWIW, I’d let the DACA criminals stay on 2 conditions:

    1. They give up the right to ever be citizens.
    2. Their numbers are subtracted from next years immigration quota. Let the criminals explain themselves to the honest immigrants that get screwed.

  2. I will give Trump the benefit of the doubt, and hope that he comes up with something that both entrenches the rights of long-resident, contributing, members of our society, and isolates the freakish extremists on both ends of the political spectrum.

Better sausage than debating filet vs lobster, and getting neither.

  3. Long-resident: that doesn’t make them legal, it makes them career criminals.

Contributing: paying excise tax on cigarettes doesn’t make you a contributing member of society. I want to see a balancing test: how much value has society derived from this particular wetback, versus how much has he cost society (including lost opportunities for our own low-skill laborers)?

I notice you didn’t mention law-abiding. Perhaps you’re aware the proposed legislation would allow repeat offenders to stay, as long as they can find a sanctuary-friendly prosecutor to plea bargain down the charges so the offender doesn’t have to leave? I don’t see the need to retain illegal immigrants to break the laws – we have plenty of scofflaws already.

Isolate freakish extremists. Completely agree with that, that’s the fundamental goal of a representative democracy, it’s the whole point in having a Constitutional amendment to guarantee freedom of speech. Send me a postcard from Ely to let me know how much you enjoy counting the birches.

This is all putting the cart before the horse. You can’t cut off the flood until you build The Wall. After that, we can decide how to handle the mopping up.

  4. By the time Trump leaves the WH it is entirely possible that his biggest detractors will be today’s Trump apologists.

Is that logic I see trying to be applied to a problem? Logic? That’s not who we are! We need feelz and pictures of children and declarations of “through no fault of their own”. How can you be so cold? Next thing, you’ll be wondering something like Mexico has two beautiful coastlines, a year-round growing season & huge oil reserves. Why is it a stinking hellhole from which people have to flee?

  6. hope that he comes up with something that both entrenches the rights of long-resident, contributing, members of our society..

Say, Dunning_Kruger? If they’re gonna use the Kathleen Soliah defense, they’re gonna have to change their names.

Jose Salcedo is a fugitive from justice, but Joe Salt is the helpful guy that mows your lawn, helps out at the AIDS clinic and votes a straight Democrat ticket.

Although, now that I think of it, that didn’t work either.

  7. I’m all in favor of a wall, at least a vehicle barrier so people can’t simply drive across, but the thing that will really put the kibosh on illegal immigration is if those who hire them are identified and punished. And that might be really cheap compared to millions of tons of concrete and steel.

  8. According to lying eTASS all Dacas are law abiding citizens. They are beyond reproach and are model citizens who have never, ever committed a felony. Not a single one of them. There are ko bad apples and each and every one should dacized. Yep. That is the world libtieds live in.

  9. We have a winner! C’mon down, bikebubba!

You could see how well this approach would work in the first months of the year when everyone thought DJT and the Republicans were actually going to build the wall, literally and/or metaphorically. I seem to recall reading that border crossings dropped some 75% early in the year and many illegals were actually returning from whence they came.

Things gettin’ back to normal now tho’. Those who would be “identified and punished” got their mojo back: starting threatening to reduce or even cancel campaign contributions.

We can all breathe a little easier.
