Dissent Will Not Be Tolerated

By Mitch Berg

From the New York Times’ piece on the left eating itself at “progressive” Evergreen State:

For expressing his view, Mr. Weinstein was confronted outside his classroom last week by a group of some 50 students insisting he was a racist. The video of that exchange — “You’re supporting white supremacy” is one of the more milquetoast quotes — must be seen to be believed. It will make anyone who believes in the liberalizing promise of higher education quickly lose heart. When a calm Mr. Weinstein tries to explain that his only agenda is “the truth,” the students chortle.

I include the video link in the text.  You can click on it.  It won’t work.

The video – showing students bulling, shouting down and threatening Weinstein and other Evergreen staff has been “removed for violating Youtube’s bullying policy”.

Of course, it chronicled bullying; it documented the Evergreen Social Justice sturmabteilung trying to bully Professor Weinstein.

The left and their friends in social media are actively shutting down anything in their power that challenges the narrative.

Another way to bully those victims of lefty bullying?

  2. Penigma Says:

Just like the right is shutting down any dissent regarding their narrative. Any such are intolerable, do you oppose the efforts by the right to do so?

    If so, speak up.

By the way, if you don’t like references to Nazis and Hitler and think they are overdone/out of line, maybe you should cease making them?

Sounds like an opportunity for an enterprising young fella or a girl to start up an alternative to YouTube where truth will be welcome, not censored. Say, UpYoursTube, or something like that.

  4. Brad Says:

An alternative to youtube is financially challenging, not so much on the tech side. Streaming video requires huge bandwidth that must be paid for – something that is pretty tough unless you have the revenue stream from advertising that Google does. I predict this will likely be the very last type of social media that is disrupted by an alternative provider.

Gonna see more and more of this, I’m afraid, until schools start standing up for actual learning. Getting the evidence out is a great start, but at a certain point, you’ve got to cut off the problem at its source–in the liberal arts’ insistence that there are not right and wrong answers.

  6. Bill C Says:

BB, I have almost zero hope that anything like that will ever happen. What we have been witnessing is the rather exponentially increasing consequences of the progressive hijacking of the public education system over the last 50-60 years.

The only way this is ever going to end or reverse is by shutting off the money, or through the spilling of blood.

I’ll make a prediction now. We’ll have our first violence-committing leftist SJW protestor death at the hands of a legal carry permit holder, at the latest, in the summer of 2019. Probably sooner, at the rate they’re going.

  7. bikebubba Says:

Bill, the way I see it happening is that when student loan defaults hit 25% and the government starts taking it in the shorts, we’re going to tighten requirements for student loans, and the politically driven liberal arts will wither as kids realize that if they want that sheepskin, they’ve got to earn it. And they’re going to be a lot less likely to get what Aaron Clarey calls a “Worthless” degree in that case.

  8. Mammuthus Primigenius Says:

    I don’t agree, Bikebubba.
Colleges believe that producing unemployable SJW’s is mission #1.
They will eliminate every job-oriented scholastic program that they offer rather than cut any of the social science or “studies” programs.
Cost of a degree? $50k at a cheap, small state college. Average starting wage? $30k/year.
The academic system is constructed on the idea that the credentialed intellectuals direct society. Educating kids to work in the private sector puts commerce, and the hated middle-class, in the driver’s seat. They will never accept that.

  9. bikebubba Says:

They’ll try to do that, sure, but can they force people to major in “Gender and ethnic studies”? Somebody will break ranks–Hillsdale, New Saint Andrews, Grove City and others already have–and then the floodgates open to real education.

All we need to do is simply note what hit the Treasury will take under the current system, and then the gig is up.
