Nice City You Got Here. It’d Be A Shame If It Was To…Break Or Something

By Mitch Berg

City of Minneapolis offers to deal with the gang problem…

…by creating a protection racket, and inviting the mobsters to it.

Although, to be fair, it’s a program that tries to deal with criminals, rather than going after the law-abiding citizens.  That, at least, is a step forward for Minneapolis.

So they want to inflict trauma on a community? Are these people nazis?:

“From a public health approach, we want to make sure that trauma, particular community trauma, is a major part of the work that we’re doing,” said Sasha Cotton, the city’s youth violence prevention coordinator, who is spearheading the effort. “We know that trauma motivates people to behave differently.”

And “spearheading” is an odd word to use to use in this context. Are they smoking dope down at the Strib?

  2. Swiftee Plisken Says:

In Richmond, Calif., officials started offering gang members checks of up to $1,000 a month not to commit another gun crime

This word; trauma. It does not mean the same thing to a reprobate leftist as it does to the rest of us Jethrene.

To a leftist Trauma = your money, and lots of it.

Obviously, yes and they have been doing so for several years.

I think I’ve heard this song before. I missed out on the “not raising hogs” money but this gig sounds like it’s right up my alley.

Do I have to be a member of any particular gang to receive the “won’t commit gun crimes” money? I’m employed in the local government bureaucracy – does that qualify as a “gang?”

“Hundreds of thousands of dollars have been pledged to the effort, including a $250,000 U.S. Department of Justice grant” The vagueness of the total amount allocated makes me believe the grand total is around $250,001.
Sounds suspiciously like the oh-so-successful gun buyback program from a few months ago. What happens when the money runs out? What if the money is used to buy guns/drugs…?
After reading the story on the Richmond program I came away with the impression that the results were mixed at best, success depended more on outreach than anything else.

I’ve listened to Mark Rosen say he’s running for mayor of Mpls.
