Violence Reduction?

Joe Doakes from Como Park emails:

There’s 80 more background checks that won’t get done when criminals buy stolen firearms, common sense restrictions to stop gun violence blocked by the gun lobby.  Damn the NRA!

It’ll be interesting to see which hitherto law-abiding citizens get collared for that heist.  Because I’m sure that’s what they’ll be.

  1. What makes me angry is that I believe the gun grabbers KNOW their proposals will not reduce crime

  2. kinlaw, I believe there are primarily 2 types of gun grabbers out there:

    1) The Alpaca-driving, Volvo-shopping, Whole Paycheck eating crowd from Highland Hills, mixed in with the ELCA-coiffed retirees, who hate the icky violence associated with guns, and are truly afraid of them They hate the “gun” part of “gun control”.

    2) The government leaning tyrants who view guns as a privilege only to be exercised by government-employed personnel, and rare security guards for wealthy liberals. They like the “control” part of “gun control”.

As for DG? It’d take one of Penigma’s storied but must-remain-anonymous neighbors with a degree in psychoanalysis to figure out that hot mess of a brain.

  3. Oh, and I think the first type of grabbers don’t believe the stats showing gun control doesn’t do anything to reduce crime. They feel better for making the attempt. “If it saves JUST ONE LIFE….”

The second type knows, but doesn’t care since that’s not their ultimate goal. They just use “crime reduction” as a chanting point that the low information type 1’s won’t bother to verify.

  4. Millville is out in the sticks. I’m guessing somebody is desperate for drugs, or somebody desperate to pay mortgage. Since they left blood, perhaps first timers. Not people who are going to pay for a gun or pass a background check, but people I don’t want to see out there.

(it’s said that rural residents are increasingly needing to watch their properties because they’ve historically been very trusting, and hence criminals are targeting out there for commodities)
