Diasporic?

If nothing else, Europe’s Jews have learned that when your ship strikes an iceberg, you don’t wait for a future round of lifeboats:

The European Jewish Congress has publicized a shocking poll: “A third of the European Jews think of emigrating”. That is 700,000 people.

“The Jews of Europe are at a crossroads”, tells me Moshe Kantor, president of the European Jewish Congress based in Brussels. “If the authorities continue to add only defensive measures, building taller walls and thicker doors, then the Jews will not want to live this imprisoned life and will leave Europe in large numbers”.

Before the attack in Copenhagen, a year ago, there were 23 children in the Jewish kindergarten in Malmö [Sweden]: today there are only 5 left. The armed guards in front of the school triggered panic and parents prefer to enroll their children in public school. It is the end of Jewish identity. Some people whispered that the synagogue of the city will soon be turned into a museum. From 2010 to today, the synagogue lost a third of the faithful. The rabbi, Shneur Kesselman, is constantly attacked in the streets: almost 200 episodes of anti-Semitism in ten years.

Wonder where this round of refugees is going to settle?

  1. Well, I’ll hazard a guess and say that, by order of priority, they will come to the U.S. first, Israel second and Canada third.

That is, of course, if the Muslim loving, anti American occupier of the White House allows them in.

  2. Shows the importance of Israel. I believe that was kind of the idea in 1948. Give the Jews a place of their own so they don’t have to face extermination. Of course the loony left (I’m looking at you ELCA) has a problem with even that little postage stamped sized nation existing.

  3. Heard a story this morning on NPR saying the Danes are taking steps to pull up the welcome mat. They are worried about an influx of re-migrating Muslims from Germany and Sweden, two countries that encouraged muzzies to emigrate are now having second thoughts.

They are going to pass legislation that allows for the confiscation of any cash migrants have upon entry, the ostensible reason being they need to compensate for the outlay they will receive, but the real message being keep out.

It’s just one more example of Distopian reality catching up with the leftist’s Utopian fever dreams.

  4. By all accounts, most are headed to Israel. Since these emigrants are legal, there is no way for them to easily resettle in the US nor Canada. Ask yourself, why are there no “Grand” synagogues anywhere in the world? Why build something intricate and elaborate if it will defaced, burned down, bombed and you will have to flee and leave it behind. The most valuable (some would argue invaluable) thing in a synagogue is Torah, which can be easily gathered up and secured and everything else left behind. At least that is one thing Jews learned from history and won’t repeat.

  5. It is the end of Jewish identity.

Ostrich move will not change who they are. They can hide, but they will have to run eventually.

  6. Isn’t it amazing how ignorance, intolerance and prejudice always seem to fall hardest upon Jews? It’s almost as if God wrote it into a script.

  7. I would not go that far, just ask armenians, ukranians, tutsis, etc. Jews are just a canary in a coal mine – the first to feel the pain. Exodus is only a harbinger of worse things to come.

  8. The interaction between JPA and Big Stink reminds me of Tom Lehrer’s line from “National Brotherhood Week”.

One would think that after the death toll of the 20th century, we’d get a hint about what to watch out for, but apparently that is too much to hope for.

  9. Funny to say, but if Trump is elected we would have guess that Jews would feel safer in the US than just about anywhere else. After all, he can accomplish the effectual banning of Muslim immigration just by enthusiastically and thoroughly enforcing the present laws, something you can’t say about Obama’s rewriting of immigration laws towards his ends.

  10. Bike: Mankind, once again, will stick it’s tongue on the flagpole of history. Guaranteed.
