All Others Pay Cash

Joe Doakes from Como Park emails:

Good article on the War on Cash, but I suspect the most important motive is if Liberals can ban cash, they can control what you buy and when you buy it.  Want to buy bullets or donate to the Republicans?  Sorry, cash card not working.

Once the government gets that control, it never ends.  Trying to buy Twinkies at Cub?  Sorry, the items you scanned to purchase are not on the approved list maintained by your Health Care Provider and forwarded to the IRS to demonstrate compliance with Obamacare.  So we’ve automatically deducted $10 from your bank account as a surtax to off-set your Attempted Weight-Loss Sabotage.

Too bad we The People can’t give government a debit card.

  1. I’ve often imagined a fictional thriller type story in which the government taxes us so much that we have no money left- we receive rations that are given out based on some predetermined need. That is, unless we have some influence, then we have the power and the money to have whatever we want. I guess the elimination of cash in order to manipulate the economy wouldn’t be too different.

  2. One of the best possible budgeting tools is to go cash only. My BiL was constantly complaining about his wife blowing the budget and they only narrowly avoided bankruptcy court several times until he finally cut up all the credit cards. It was a massive surprise the SiL when she finally had to begin understanding what she was spending where.

And all of that happened well over a decade ago. They still don’t use credit cards and are much happier for it.

  3. My personal problem with cash is that with debit/check card for purchasing, direct deposit for work payroll, mobile deposit for every other kind of deposit, and online bill pay, we never have a need to go to the bank or for cash. We have only one bank CREDIT card, that hopefully will get paid off this year. We don’t have any store credit cards, and never will.

Yes I understand that without cash and with plastic, others CAN control/prevent my purchasing. If it gets to that point, I’ll start making the effort to use cash.

Dude! Fictional? Just read up on history. You know, the stuff that happened in the past we are about to repeat because we haven’t learned anything from it?
