Comedy…

Joe Doakes from Como Park emails:

The Donald said unflattering things about John McCain’s military service, echoes of unflattering things Al Franken said.

Franken now says it was a joke

So . . . was he kidding, then? Or was he kidding “on the square”? Or is he kidding now about having been kidding then?Hard to when a lying liar is lying. Safest to assume it’s “always.”

  1. Well, since Al Franken is a big joke himself, maybe we should give him the benefit of the doubt.

During congressional testimony from the families of violence from illegal aliens in support of Kate’s law, the camera focused on our joke of a senator. He had his usual dumb expression, but it seemed to be a look of disdain. As he turned his gaze to his right, it sure looked like he was rolling his eyes.

It’s just too bad that the drolling left wing sycophants in this state don’t get embarrassed by anything that their elected morons do or say.

  2. I think Trump positively focuses some of the debate and dialog in the campaign, his atrocious style and lack of eloquence aside. But his comments on McCain as were those previously by Diaper Boy just plain stupid. I think Trump was lashing out at McCain because of his remark about the “crazies coming out”.

I’m not a fan at all of McCain’s style of politics and would be pleased if he retires or gets pushed out in the next election. In my eyes though McCain is a hero, if not for the what he endured in 5+years as a POW, but for what happened aboard the USS Forrestal and his actions there.

  3. I am reminded of how appalled I was that Franken was getting political traction, knowing that his only political “achievements” were two book length ad hominem attacks. And still am. Reality is that in 1996, with the publication of his first book, Franken left comedy behind and entered the world of polemic.

He doesn’t get to say he was just joking after that point, because his work was deadly serious. For that matter, some of his SNL work borders on that as well–there was a joke to it, but with a very nasty message.
