The Greatest Threat Ever Faced By Democracy
By Mitch Berg
Biden says B interrupting the President’s speech was declasse’:
Vice President Joe Biden says a Republican congressman’s outburst during President Barack Obama‘s health-care speech Wednesday night “demeaned the institution.”
South Carolina Rep. Joe Wilson shouted “You lie” after Obama said extending health care to all Americans would not mean insuring illegal immigrants.
Appearing on ABC’s “Good Morning America” Thursday, Biden said the incident made him “embarrassed for the chamber and a Congress I love.”
Yeah. Don’t be embarassing Congress with any of those outbursts, or Joe Biden will clutch his pearls and say “tut-tut”.
UPDATE: Dang Google. I keep searching for “biden clutching his pearls and tut-tutting over Dems booing during state of the union”, and get nothing. Google must be broken.

Mitch goes on record in favor of falsely calling the president of the United States a liar in a joint session of Congress. Good to know. Turns out John McCain, Joe Wilson (the congressman, not the husband of the American spy outed by the former administration with your approval) and everybody else who was asked about it apparently disagree, but you go girl!
SitD is comfortingly predictable. If it turned out the Zodiac Killer was a Republican, Mitch would dig up some kooky wingnut claim that Nancy Pelosi was a founding member of the Manson Family.

ac cant handle it when someone “speaks truth to power”? aw poor little guy.
September 10th, 2009 at 8:17 am
Except for the “truth” part and the fact that Wilson immediately called the White House to apologize, you’re right on there, Kel.
September 10th, 2009 at 8:44 am
Hey, assclown, did Zero the Hero call in yet with his apology?
“Some of people’s concerns have grown out of bogus claims spread by those whose only agenda is to kill reform at any cost. The best example is the claim, made not just by radio and cable talk show hosts, but prominent politicians, that we plan to set up panels of bureaucrats with the power to kill off senior citizens. Such a charge would be laughable if it weren’t so cynical and irresponsible. It is a lie, plain and simple.”
And, assclown, prove it was a false accusation. Oh,never mind, your proof always the same – We Won!
September 10th, 2009 at 9:04 am
Don’t ask Clownie to prove anything. It’s beneath him.
His blind faith in Great Leader is quaint and touching, but as I pointed out in a different thread, Obama is a liar. And I actually proved it my point. Unlike Clownie.
September 10th, 2009 at 9:15 am
If it turned out the Zodiac Killer was a Republican,
But he wasn’t.
And while I eschew rudeness in all settings, to say nothing of joint sessions of Congress, you continue to evade my question; did Joe Biden tut-tut over the Dems booing Bush?
How many of those Dems called to apologize when they disgraced themselves and profaned their offices?
If Pol Pot rose from the dead and french-kissed Charles Schumer, Clown would note that the Cambodian Stock Exchange is way up since Pot first took office.
September 10th, 2009 at 9:43 am
It appears that the President’s health care reform plan is coming down to last gasp “Hail Mary” passes.
“Let’s pass this for (fill in the blank)”.
Shouldn’t there be a better reason than to make one person happy ?
“If I make a speech everyone will come together”
It hasn’t worked so far.
“Let’s pass this to spite (fill in the blank)”
While I believe that what Rep Wilson did was rude, it’s not a reason in and of itself to pass bad legislation.
The same goes for any number of people one can put in the blank.
It reminds me of a person in a poker game with a bad hand who keeps putting money in the pot against someone holding a straight flush.
They should fold, but they feel they have too much at stake to quit even though they are going to lose.
As a result you take a huge loss instead of just eating a small one.
Sorry, Mr Obama.
Throw in the cards and start a new hand.
September 10th, 2009 at 10:30 am
Personally, I think it would be a good thing if Congress all stood up and let Obama know he’s pushing fertilizer.
Sorry, AC, but section 1233 and others clearly do set up what could become “death panels” as soon as pressure on the system is sufficient. Which, judging by the fact that Obama wants to cut billions from Medicare’s budget despite the fact that doctors are leaving it because it doesn’t pay, wouldn’t be too long.
September 10th, 2009 at 11:12 am
Mitch fantasized: “you continue to evade my question; did Joe Biden tut-tut over the Dems booing Bush?”
I know you conservatives have a different definition of “reality,” but it’s hard to understand how Angryclown to evade a question you didn’t ask Him. (Bet it *feels* like Angryclown evaded it though.)
Regardless, it is evident you’re very anxious for an answer from Angryclown. So Angryclown will put on his Miss Manners hat and respond:
It is much more objectionable, all other things being equal, to interrupt a presidential address by falsely calling the president a liar than to react to something he says with booing.
I do hope that’s helpful.
September 10th, 2009 at 11:15 am
Obama will do what he needs to do to get conservative Democrats back on the reservation and pass a bill with negligible Republican support, you gun-toting, town-hall-disrupting kooks notwithstanding.
September 10th, 2009 at 11:44 am
But Clownie, Obama is a liar. It’s much more objectionable to stand in the well of Congress and lie your ass off than it is to object to said lies.
But as for booing? If Democrats didn’t have double standards they would have no standards at all.
September 10th, 2009 at 11:47 am
“You lie” is a bit rude and direct, but it’s a little easier to blurt out than “You’re disingenuous!” or “You’re naïve!”
I also think there’s a bit of a difference in the expected standard of decorum between a constitutionally mandated State of the Union address where a semblance of professional Unity could be expected, and a President using his perogative to address a joint session of Congress and prime time to stump for his one-sided agenda. Perhaps if a wise, female jurist such as Judge Judy were in the august body she might have responded with “Don’t pee on my leg and tell me it’s raining.”
September 10th, 2009 at 12:05 pm
It is much more objectionable, all other things being equal, to interrupt a presidential address by falsely calling the president a liar than to react to something he says with booing.
Ah. So better for a faceless, anonymous horde of lemmings to emit a formless noise, hiding in their lumpen mass, than for a man to stand up and, like a man, say something in an actual human language.
Duly noted.
September 10th, 2009 at 12:12 pm
Then he called up Rahm Emanuel and apologized like a little girl.
“This evening I let my emotions get the best of me when listening to the president’s remarks regarding the coverage of illegal immigrants in the health care bill. While I disagree with the president’s statement, my comments were inappropriate and regrettable. I extend sincere apologies to the president for this lack of civility.”
September 10th, 2009 at 12:41 pm
What have you got against little girls? Are you a sexist too?
September 10th, 2009 at 1:37 pm
Maybe he remembered he was dealing with a Chicago pol and he was concerned about getting the “Joe the Plumber” treatment where his private records would be disseminated or the purple shirts might start following him around.
September 10th, 2009 at 2:01 pm
“…the claim… …made… by… prominent politicians… It is a lie…” – Pres. Barack Obama
shortly followed by
“You lie” – Rep. Joe Wilson
It was wrong for Wilson to sink to the level of Obama.
Who apologized? Another double standard?
September 10th, 2009 at 2:22 pm
Hey, assclown “…While I disagree with the president’s statement, my comments were inappropriate and regrettable. I extend sincere apologies to the president for this lack of civility.” Wilson did not apologize for the statement, but for conduct. Zero indeed lied. Where is his apology?
Oh, and while we are on subject of apologies for conduct-unbecoming-a-politician – When is Zero going to apologize for lying about a 46MM uninsured number he was touting earlier? I guess at the same time he will be apologizing for lying about a 30MM number.
September 10th, 2009 at 3:25 pm
apologized like a little girl
Did Omar Minaya have another press conference?
September 10th, 2009 at 5:42 pm
Ah, but Bozo lies, too. “Joe Wilson…. the American spy outed by the former administration.” Too bad, but not true. And even if true, consider- Outing of one lone spy by former administration-the end of the world. The outing of a whole counter-espionage program by the New York Times-patriotic and just. Great Lib logic.
