Joe Doakes from Como Park emails:
First thing I do before cleaning my gun is load up all the bullets, including one in the chamber, and cock it with the safety off. Then I set it by my kid and go looking for rags and stuff. Always. Because it’s only sensible and what could go wrong?
Some days, you just wonder.

The painful lessons are all around us.
It reminds me of the guy in West Virginia about 20 years back who got drunk and decided to clean his pistols, shooting himself in the foot with each one. He made it through the .32 and the .38, but when he “unloaded” the .357 into his foot, he decided that he might go to see a doctor. Princeton, if I remember right–Bob Denver’s home town, but it wasn’t Gilligan.
Thank God only a wall got hurt here.
Kid shoulda been “Red Flagged”.
