It’s A Good Thing None Of Them Work In A Field Where Facts Matter

By Mitch Berg

Read over the weekend at a local anonymous leftyblog, essentially labelling any criticism of Sonia Sotomayor as one form of “racism” or another:

But you know what? Count me among those who think that she is a bit better than the white men out there calling her unintelligent, lazy, fat, unqualified, racist, an irresponsible spender, ugly, and arrogant.

I’d be the first of those links.  You’ll note that in no way do I call Judge Sotomayor unintelligent – anywhere, at all, much less in the piece linked above – but merely point out some commentary wondering she’s a bit of a professional lightweight for the highest court in the land.

Of course, as we’ve discovered in the past four months, dissent and skepticism about government is not the highest form of patriotism after all, but in fact one form depravity or another, whichever is convenient.

But as we’ve seen, in this anonyblogger’s post as well as some of the comments in my post, Sotomayor is serving the only purposes Obama really has for her nomination; to serve as a sop to female and Hispanic voters, and give the left a shrieking point, an ugly strawman to use to demonize dissent.  Just like with Obama himself.

Oh, yeah:

Well, that doesn’t narrow things down much, does it?

Forget the fact that she’s a flaming lightweight, the cause-traitors at Volokh are stabbing that one in the back.

You were right, Mitch, when you said her 11 years on the appeals court show:

    > Yes. She has many years of interventionist, activist experience.

That’s where we should aim our fire.

Like that case where she overturned the will of the elected branches and made up her own law to do it. You know the case I mean, Mitch.

She’s got so many to choose from in all her years, I can’t remember which was the most activist.

Maybe she’s bitter about her ex-husband yet.

After seeing a post on one of your recent posts by Jay Reding, and that you had him linked on the right hand side of this blog, I went over to see what he had written. Turned out he has a piece on Sotomayor as well.

I agree with Reding about Elena Kagan; I would have much preferred her over Sotomayor as a nominee. The assertions about Sotomayor being an activist judge, or an intellectual lightweight are far less reasonable.

In response to the right wing rant by G. Gordon Liddy last week, I just dashed off another posting for Penigma’s blog. I’m waiting for him to have a chance to review it; he’s busy with family things at the moment, but I expect to see it up in the next day or so. Since you find the time to read “anonymous leftyblogs”, and both Penigma and I are not anonymous to you, perhaps you will do me the courtesy of giving it a read and a response. I hope you will be amused.

As far as Mr. Liddy goes, I’m confident that I have a greater knowledge of menstruation, the characteristics and effects of estrogen and progesterone. For that matter I’d bet I am more knowledgable than Mr. Liddy about testosterone as well, after pursuing an interest in theriogenology for years.

I wasn’t referring to Penigma as one of the anonymous leftyblogs, although he certainly is one…

    I’ll check it out, though.

As to Liddy – I didn’t know he was still alive.

  5. Seflores Says:

“Dog Gone” – Thank you for facilitating my learning of a word that I was not previously familiar with.

Based on the definition of theriogenology…

Theriogenology is the branch of veterinary medicine concerned with reproduction, including the physiology and pathology of male and female reproductive systems and the clinical practice of veterinary obstetrics, gynecology, and andrology.

… one hopes that anonymous (though alledgedly known to SitD’s proprietor) commenter “Dog Gone”, is a veterinarian. A lay person that would pursue “an interest theriogenology” would be thought strangely curious if not considered outright odd. One would discount the views of such a person relative to the selection of a Supreme Court Justice.

Perhaps with a handle like “Dog Gone”, he/she is a juice passer at an area pet euthansia clinic or just a plain old PeTA member and has more familiarity with the subject than the average person would. Either way, like MBerg, I was unaware that GG Liddy was still alive let alone is still on the air. According to his memoir “Will”, Mr. Liddy is highly familiar with the ass end of a rat.

    Close, if memory serves.

So Mitch, is the criterion the obscurity of the blogger’s identity or the lack of blog traffic? Both seem possibilities in this case…

  8. Master of None Says:

“I just dashed off another posting for Penigma’s blog. ”

Specific evidence that there is order and logic to the Universe… (now the peeve has two readers)

  9. K-Rod Says:

Are you considering peev to be one of the two readers of his Penisblog?

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

Peev bans the mention of certain books. Ban books…. hmmmmm… nuff said.
