For Terry, “full of Clarence Thomas’s'” I take this to mean Clarence Thomas rules is a way that corresponds to Terry’s preferred results. He would not accept a bench full of African-American judges who ruled like Thurgood Marshall.
Your, “As long as they are competent jurists and upheld the Constitution” is a little more opaque. I assume this group is much smaller than the current Federal judiciary. If so, than you are picking a group of judges based on whether they rule in accord with your preferred judicial principles.

I don’t have judicial principles. Constitution is what it is. There is no room for empathy.

That depends on what the definition of “is” is?
