I Do Not Believe…

By Mitch Berg

…that this came from any American gun show:

The M1919 or the girl.
Or much of this, for that matter:

Oh, yeah – and that machine gun at the top?  It’s not an “anti-aircraft gun”.  It’s a Browning M1919A1 on a tripod, for shooting at ground targets – like other drug dealers, in this case.  It’s WWII-vintage, made in the USA, probably sold to Mexico or another Latin American nation’s military…

…and not, mind you, via a gun show.

That, or I’ve been shopping at the wrong gun shows.

When I heard the media reports that the Federales had captured an anti-aircraft gun from one of the cartels, I was imagining something more along the scene from “Saving Private Ryan” with the German Flak 38.

    Chad,

Yep, me too. I pictured the Soviet Vietnam-era classic, the ZU-23.

    Same basic idea.

    Nothing like an M1919.

IF you could find a M1919 for sale at a gun show you would probably need wheelbarrows of money to purchase it (collectors who have them just don’t want to sell them). They are out there but very-very few and far between. Mexicans could probably buy cases of black market AK-47’s for what they would pay for one M1919. I know a guy who has a “Ma Duece”; comparatively someone could put their kid through 4 years at an Ivy League school cheaper than they could buy the duece.

The top photo looks like it could be used for Anti-Strib’s hot chick Friday. Every time I post latin soap opera chicks over there, a few people wonder whether we can declare a partial amnesty only for hot chicks.

I guess when I read the report and then looked at the picture, I figured the AA gun was NOT pictured and and that the Browning was ALSO captured. My line of thinking being that the media can’t be that stupid.

I apologize for this line of thinking, it was clearly an erroneous assumption on my part. But you see it does mention the AA gun was mounted on the back of a truck…and since the truck isn’t shown I figured maybe that wasn’t be either.

Mitch, if you’re not seeing gals like that at your local gun shows, you need to come down to Virginia sometime. Tons of young lovelies down here at the shows – and I’ve only been to the ones at Chantilly near Dulles.

M1919s, on the other hand…yeah. As other commenters have said, you can find machine guns, but they cost serious wads of cash – and then there’s all the Federal hoops you have to jump through to own one. Oy.
