Świetny Pomysł Na Minnesota

By Mitch Berg

If this were in Minnesota, the target would be a “Medtronic” logo [1].

Otherwise, it’s a perfect representation of Minnesota in 2014.

[1] Or any other smaller MN business as well…

Yesterday, our Democrat Dominated Media Culture (DDMC) tried to calm the typical MPR/’CCO listener regarding the Medtronic move to Ireland by noting “no jobs or executives are moving there”. Whew. Dodged a bullet, eh?
Left unsaid is that this is a multi-billion dollar tax avoidance strategy – open, of course, to only the wealthy, large company’s – and not your brother-in-laws machine shop or bff’s fancy cupcake boutique.
Oh and remember how our DDMC bragged about how many Fortune 500 (can’t believe this is still a thing) firms were incorporated here because of our expensive/better than average education system and many ‘creative’ (although we dropped out of the Top (pun not intended) 10 LGBT friendly cities according to a recent “Vocativ” survey that included the ease of a casual hook-up as part of their criteria) class members compared to, uh, Mississippi? Seems as if Medtronic had some better than average and/or creative class tax experts figure out that spending $40+Billion and registering the corporation in ye olde Eire was a better investment than bringing the dollars here to be taxed to pay for a new orange line or to be pilfered in some Union thug run school or to pay Barry’s tab at the golf course du jour. Good for them. Get my broker on the phone, would ya Trudy?

    Seflores; great points!

Another Minnesota based company, Hypoguard, was acquired by Japan based Arkray a few years ago. Even though their Minnesota offices were dubbed Arkray USA, they are actually run out of their main manufacturing facility, which is in Ireland.

Of course, Lee Iacocca pointed out years ago, what many Japanese car driving libidiots either ignore or don’t know, that they report all of their losses in the US to avoid paying any taxes, except for payroll type. According to a good friend of mine that is has been in the industry for decades, this is true of very other foreign car manufacturer with plants in the USA.

Why are US and Minnesota and Minneapolis taxes so high? We could talk for hours about gov’t waste. Hey, that VA issue……is the gov’t working to reform and correct the problems? Nope, they (Dems and Republicans) just voted to spend an additional $50,000,000,000 a year on the VA, but wtih no reforms to solve the problems.

But anyway….read yesterday about issues at the Minneapolis deparment of human rights. A city agency with a tyrant for a boss. She runs the entity with an iron fist. The 22 employees are not happy with her. Yes, that is right. The City of Minneapolis Dept of Human Rights has 22 employees. What do 22 people working at an office called the Minneapolis Dept of Human Rights do all day?

  4. Bill C Says:

She’s not worried about the human rights of her minions, only those that keep her budget in the black from city hall. The absolute worst kind of tyrant, and a PERFECT fit for a mid-level government supervisor. She’ll be there until she hits the 90 rule, and then bring home a pension of 90% of her highest salary. Maybe she’ll double dip and get some sort of consulting position with HennCo after she retires.

And I want to live in Minneapolis, why, exactly?

On another note, the statue mentioned above is in Nowa Huta. I may be one of your only readers who has actually been in Nowa Huta. There is a fabulous story of how the commies tried to keep the city from having a church. I mean it was supposed to be the perfect paradise for workers and who would need a church. The local population though by sheer popular will and a lot of human sweat built one. It’s a wonderful story worth writing about in your blog.

I do know one of my regular readers spent all sorts of time in Poland – but given that Nowy Huta isn’t exactly a tourist stop, I wouldn’t bet against you.

But I will have to look into that story, absolutely.
